Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Everyone seems to think thats Treacy…

I want JT to play, think he brings a lot to the forward line. Pressure acts, crashing packs, compliments Amiss well, but another key solid tall would imo make us a lot more dangerous.

Want LJ to play more mid, so not him.

Swinging Cox forward and finding a replacement key back might be easier than finding a forward

Weagles won, so no longer on the bottom and miss out on the 1st pick.

If dockers were in same situation, would you have liked us to have tanked to get 1st pick?
It's better for them now as they dont have the pressure of picking Harley Reid only for him to want to go home to mummy after 2 years.

How many get cut.

Colyer, Hamling and Wilson are done.

Henry is out the door which is fine by me take a 3rd rounder and move on.

I suppose some of the lesser known rookies could be in trouble.

Having the likes of Banfield and Hughes on the list for another year is just a waste of time and poor list management I am sorry.

We have seen what they offer and while they show glimpses they are at best average AFL players who have been on the list too long.

Put it this way you will struggling to win a premiership if those 2 are in B22.

We so desperately need a mature power forward.

Just hopeless ahead of the footy.

Darcy back does not mean that’s Jackson
After watching this game I think we desperately need a speedy midfielder. Idk if Stanley can play inside. Duursma would have been perfect pick for us this year. It would be so tempting to try to get GC's pick 4.

Amen brother.
I’ve been saying this for so long. So ****ing sick of honest battlers spending way way too long on our list.
We are going to finish bottom 4 and quite possibly might only turn over 4 players in the off season. It’s a complete joke. Collingwood lost a premiership final last year and turned over 9!

What the **** are some of these fringe players getting multi year deals for when they are clearly not good enough?
For example - why was Karl worner given a 2 year deal before he’d ever played an AFL game? We aren’t talking about some highly touted superstar here that needs patience. A guy picked as a mature age player on the rookie list? He’s been here two full years now. I will be amazed if anything other than him being delisted happens at the end of 2024.
It’s almost like we are terrified a player will get delisted from out group and go on to have some moderate AFL success somewhere else. So we have to keep him an extra year or two, just in case like. Just to be 200% certain he’s not at the required level before being let go. We would rather forgo the opportunity of getting another rookie prospect in for a season or two than have egg on our face by cutting a guy too soon.
This kind of list management cost us players like Nic Martin or Tyson Stengle in the long run. We don’t have the list spots to give them a go.
Massive opportunity cost.
The strategy is just like much of the football we see on the park. Conservative, boring, safe and risk free.
I’m using worner as an example because he’s fresh in my mind after today. He’s just one of many in recent years.

Hughes, Banfield, Walters,
Amen brother.

Add Banfield, Omeara, Brodie, Hughes and Co.

Probably Walters and Fyfe. We don't value list spots at all, and are happy to just sneake into finals.

Surely after that they aren't traded darcy, nothing against Jackson but freo are a better side with both. would surprise me if Reidy plays next week to help Jackson out
Ya I’d agree with this. Though LJ was in line for a career game after 15 min but overall he was ineffective after that.
Darcy needs to stay if we are serious about moving away from taking comfort from stats about how young and inexperienced we are after every defeat

We can do better than 3rd round pick for Henry.

Also we already have 4 picks and you’re proposing a very slight upgrade on our fourth pick - currently 57 which will likely end up being around 48-50 on draft night.

We are better off upgrading existing picks.

If Bulldogs are the team for Henry

20, 52, Henry > 17,36

Our draft is then 17, 36, 39, 57

The value is pick 44 (third round pick) but more value than a pick like that on it’s own.

If you just take say pick 48-52 third round pick we might as well just let him go into the draft and sweat it out for a few weeks.

Latest talk is that his preferred destination is collingwood

We need to find some midfield class by foot and good decision-makers. I would have liked to have seen Torrent play for Peel. Tough nut, good decision-maker with a good left foot who can play hf, hb and wing. I was impressed with him in the champs. Lower pick but could improve the skill level of the team. Assuming he is good enough to play the level and his skills could hold up under the extra speed and pressure.

#15 Reece Torrent (Peel Thunder)
Midfielder/Wing | 183cm | 83kg | 03/08/2005

The talented junior cricketer enjoyed his outing at the WACA, making the most of his possessions from a wing to be a solid contributor for the Black Ducks. While not the side’s most prolific player, Torrent looked a class above his teammates when he had the ball in space, as he laced out a couple of teammates with beautiful forward entries, showing the ability to execute both the bullet and the weighted pass that draws in the leading forward. He had an opportunity to hit the scoreboard late but hit the post from a set shot from 40m.

Of course it is.
Can we get Ed Allan?
I can’t see how the pies would give us Ed Allan.
Unless he’s
(A) been a terrible disappointment so far to the point they have already written off his chances of being a decent AFL footballer
Or
(B) he does a JHF and basically falls out with everyone there to the point that they just want to get him off the books.

I think it’s safe to say none of those two scenarios apply here.
First year players don’t move in contract, only in very exceptional circumstances

Depends if they see Henry as a best 22 get.
If they do, they probably won’t have a pick to satisfy, so they’d listen on a player.

It’s probably not an unfair trade, depending where you see Henry’s worth. Early 2nd seems the consensus. Allen was pick 18 or so.

We extended allan already to 2026 because we like what we see. He’s already impressing. Great kid.

**** I’m going to vomit if the VFL give North pick 2 plus whatever corrupt shit they give them for that shit truck Ben McKay

Pushes our pick that we don't have back, this is the year I don't mind it happening

no doubt but the principle of the thing makes me want to puke.

apart from one pick which turned into Haselby the VFL have ****ed us since day one. We’ve had one decent year since 2015 and no one’s suggesting we should get a pick. We’re back in the bottom 5…again
