Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Hard to argue with that. A 3rd rounder that might be a 3 or 4 pick upgrade on a pick we probably won't even use is pretty much useless to us.

If there's ever a moment to stand up to Young and his s**t, it's this. At least it would send a message to any player whose ear Young has that it's not as bloody easy to move clubs as he's saying when you're not a free agent.

Especially when the first pick in the PSD is in the place you want to move from

Acres is a good player, looking back I would have offered him more to stay, don't understand some of the people giving him grief though as if he ever complained about the club or talked down on it.

He kicked another bag of 5 despite EF's midfield being on top which brings his total to 32.13 for the season. Lance has a great aerial presence and took some nice marks today. He also has some mongrel, bowled over a few EF players giving away the free kicks. It looks like he also have some distance to him, kicking one on the 50 line. His 5th goal was a beauty. Subi bombed the ball into the F50, he trapped the ball, swung around and snapped a goal 35m out.

I’ll concede on Brodie, but why exclude Fyfe & JOM? Are you just going to play Erasmus at Peel until 2026?

He didn’t even get a full game when both were injured in the final round.

Fyfe has played about 15 games in 3 years and is 32 next week.
JoM is almost 30 and has already been shifted around the park at times this year and will almost certainly have to do that more as he ages.

Erasmus is still 19. This tirade against him is yet another in the long list of posters have zero patience and/or idea about how AFL players develop. It's asinine.

It's also ridiculous to ignore injuries which will happen..

Getting a bit carried away with acres aren’t we? Played well, but hardly off the charts.

It was like one of his better games for us. I get he'd still be our best winger but I feel absolutely nothing watching him. Same with Cerra (because Amiss ).

I think the club thought they had Angus Brayshaw in the bag and the plan was to play him on the wing that’s why we were so content lowballing Acres.

Melbourne then upped their offer and blew us out of the water and Acres had already committed elsewhere.

Except those team’s wings can play other roles whereas Acres can’t (not effectively anyway) if what you’re saying is true. There’s no way Acres is a walk up start at Collingwood and Sydney no matter what his form is (barring injuries)

Then you’d move those wings to other spots and get better overall? I’ll concede maybe Collingwood he wouldn’t be I their best 22, MAYBE. Who are you including in those other teams that are so good?

Just on this point. I don't think it's asinine (?) to expect a bit more from a top 10 pick.

He's been a bit average with no real standout moments that make you go "wow, he's gonna be a gun".

Henry would still find his way to Hawks in the PSD. Clubs don't like picking up players that don't want to play for them.
So then the Hawks would get him free.

The guys an absolute light weight when it comes to the negotiating table.

He makes up excuses as to why he lets our players go for unders (OOC, no leverage etc) but then bends over willing to oppo clubs demands the other way in the same position when freo are trying to get players in.

I'm impressed with your inside knowledge of negotiations.

These trades often have many elements at play, with plenty not public.
The way some people state random conjecture or opinion as fact is also crazy.

Despite Saint's having worse picks than Hawks to give us, I still feel like we can get a better pick out of them. Hopefully we can be aggressive and use Henry to load up on second round picks. We got very lucky with Johnson last season so we shouldn't expect the players we want to land in our lap again this season. If we see players we like, just take them early.
