Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Acres should have been re-signed for sure, what's done is done though, would it be great to go back to the past and undo it? Sure. s**t happens, we'll be fine.
Right. So let's not give Peter Bell the opportunity to make another mistake again.

He's not good people, he has to go.

Where did I say letting him go was a good decision?

Today if anything was a game that came close to justifying that decision.
Yeah after replying I saw that you posted basically the same point (it was a **** up, but the pendulum will swing/has swung a bit too far), so probably better served as a standalone comment than a reply. We don't disagree on anything on this topic.

Depth on the wing is the issue.
Suddenly NOD isn’t WAFL level, Henry goes and there’s what… Stanley and Aish?
Yuck

Playing with a busted wing and shows more heart than Henry ever has.
He is no a grader but we need players that get the pill and bang it forward- we missed him and he is showing that although not perfect he fills that mature body in the contest and gets into the right places…
Genuine footballer…
I hate Henry too what does that have to do with anything

I completely agree that Bell needs to likely go, it's his fault, but I feel it's better to move forward and look at the future rather than dwelling on past faults, it doesn't really help any of us.

You can forgive and celebrate your own player when they do nothing all game but then kick the winning goal.

I just find it a bit dumb for this to be a game people have a sook over losing Acres when he did nothing all game but was in the right position to take an uncontested mark.

Hear that,
Hard to define it, it’s probably a collective from his last 3 games and now it’s all boiling over.

Rather we drop it all,
And don’t give anyone from the blues board the joy of watching us fighting over a f3 traded player

I don’t hate Henry, the club prioritised him over Acres, that’s the point…and not being salty about how a player like Acres gets potted for leaving for being undervalued valued…
Why did the club prioritised him? Made it to a semi final 2022, look to retain players.
Henry showed nothing since debut to even be B22, but for some reason he got gifted games and persisted with? Eh. Can’t wait til he goes and Fremantle can move on.
Cannot believe out of that draft class, Henry a WA Guy goes to Victoria and Serong, Young stays. Perplexing

He was regarded as a peaheart for a very long time. At the saints was often described as "built like Tarzan plays like Jane".

Sexism aside, he's now a fully matured 28 yo and plays for a shizenmunching club. Plus it was Melbourne losing that game more than any Carltoon player winning it.

Wasn't it more the club prioritising Jackson and then Serong, Young, Darcy etc?

I think I'd rather maximise keeping them into the future.

That’s great today. Until his turnover cost them games
Think this gets overstated. Hardly has turnovers that’s pivotal.
Henry isn’t any different. He turned the ball over cutting inside the corridor.

Know what’s great about Acres? He can kick it from 50. He can tackle, and he has underrated hands in the air, just like tonight.

Henry? None of that. Can’t kick 30m, can’t kick goals. Guess how many he kicked this season? 1.
And the guy has the gall to be asking for trades?
Cannot believe the coaches backed him this season.

He got dropped a few years ago, and turned it around.
There’s plenty of players that are pea hearts. Langdon from Melbourne is one.

Well atm he’s playing in a Prelim and we aren’t, not saying he would of been the difference but to then use Henry as a replacement only for him to request a trade fmd.

I can see why we persisted, we had invested so much into him and we drafted him based on a good amount of exposure to our coaches and recruiters…
Sometimes shit goes south - just look at Rayner, injuries aside he has been bloody underwhelming to date - persistence has maybe rolled a dividend.
Point is we need to get something of value for Henry and if we don’t, be happy to fold and get fcuk all just to send a message to the king maker player managers.
Some work out, some don’t…
I know what you mean about WA boys, stings a bit eh???

Rayner signed and re signed.
Henry have bailed pretty much ASAP.
Rayner is Victorian playing for Queensland. Henry is WA asking to be traded to Victoria. Hardly the same.

Arces shuttle ran from end to end all night. Barely impacted a contest and worse was frequently not providing the outlet to midfield stoppages a team normally needs.
Equally those runs allowed him to get on the end of two. He's not a bad player but letting a B grade winger go for C grade price is not going to effect us materially long term.
And this is from someone potting Bell well before it was fashionable.

Jeez. If we went back to the past 2 years posts on here 90% percent said he was a soft, ball-hacking spud. Spare me the genius hindsight. All of a sudden all the weaknesses everyone hated don't matter because he kicked a goal.
I’m not a vocal abuser of players, never have been - maybe a little on Hughes - no genius hindsight here, yes he butchers the ball - nothing to do with the goal kicked tonight- I see him as a mistake letting him go at Freo
