Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

What's he hearing though? The name?

Sure, there might be something in it. But it might just be that Darcy's a fricken good player, is an elite ruck, which there is plenty of demand for and originally hails not too far from Geelong, who are also desperate for quality ruck stocks.

I don't think Barret works the phones anymore like he did when he was younger and had to deliver regular newspaper columns. He just does AFL media for years now.
Still got file the occasional piece even for them though and ya gotta fill it with something.

As much as I’d like to believe that, don’t think Barrett listens to those guys, not when he has club contacts.

He has history of dropping this sort of thing, prior to any "proof" existing, and being bang on though. That's what worries me.
He's not a shock merchant like cornes or spuddy.

Hopefully it is just a case of clubs being "what about Sean?" and not anything more solid.

Yes, but not those two. (Stengle is a mess, and LDU won't leave Vic)

Would pivot to Bolton, Lukosious, McDonald though. And hopefully also come out with a bit extra.

I'd say he has a habit of dropping things and they do or don't come true and he claims the latter.
I am mortally certain if you trawled through his 'if then' backlog there'd be dozens of examples. I bet there is even a Fyfe to Saint Kilda one.

Yeah, and I should preface this by saying I wasn't really worried he would leave until Suma said we'd missed our chance to trade him, I don't think anyone would be prepared to meet our demands as a pre agent. They be too high.

What are they gonna do for us though? Are midfield is developing but still good, and don’t really need another forward do we? I mean I don’t think he’ll be leaving k don’t want him to leave. If he does leave it’s gonna leave a hole in the group that a Stengel or a LDU is gonna fix.

Only one I see a threat of getting Darcy this year is North. Geelong don’t value ruckman enough to get Darcy in contract and I think it would take someone backing the absolute truck up for him anyway.

Talk of getting a player is nuts, teams don’t kick players out for trades- our efforts with Croad and Tarrant show why. Get someone next year with the capspace

If it’s like this season and Darcy gets injured perfect opportunity for Knobel and Reidy. Really missed a good opportunity to develop the two young ruckman this year.
Don’t see Knobel coming in before Reidy though.

Barrett isn't a news breaker anymore and I doubt he is aware Fremantle even exists until he has to write his sliding doors article each week. Then I'm sure he would be in a mad panic trying to think of something to write

Yep,
He had to scrub out his Cox line and replace it with Darcy.
