Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Treacy is twice the player Tabs was at the same age and he had even more concrete hands. He'll get there.

Just looked at a player comparison when both at the same age and that's not true at all, at least according to the stats. I also like Josh and think he'll get there.

Yep, very similar stats except Tabs was playing in a much better team and always had the massive tank so got to more contest.

Now factor in that Treacy is 5 times the defensive player, 5 times the field kick and useful in the ruck and you have twice the player at the same age.

It also doesn't show aerial contests and that would be interesting because I swear Tabs got outmarked a lot early days.

Which is better for the club, means he will be more experienced than tabs is at the age of maybe 28.

I see great things that are gonna come from Treacy 2-3 years he’s gonna be pretty good.

Yep. The only scenario I'm ok with a Darcy trade is if we get pick 1 (Harley Reid) or a gun player (and no, not Logan McDonald) for him.

He'd played 9 games for a reason - he wasn't very good and we couldn't have needed another KPF anymore than we did then. I love Tabs but he was a SLOW burn and he has never and will never compare to Treacy as either a defensive player or as a field kick. Treacy is literally AFL elite for defence for a KPF already.

It's why its a testement to Tabs' work ethic he became the player he did - he was coming from a long way back.

Before the bye I would of been happy to get a Ross Lyon compliment on my budding breasts in exchange for Henry. He's played a handful of decent games and I hope we get a good return for him but I wouldn't mind sending him to PSD instead of taking rubbish. We don't really owe him anything.

They're both focusing on pre-season and looking forward to having a big 2024. Also mentioned (paraphrasing) obvious disappointment for Dogs performance.

I read between the lines that both think the Dogs should be much better and at the very least are waiting for the 2024 performance before committing.

Was he? I thought that was the year before? If so, I suppose the threat of PSD might level the scales a bit between the two.
Expecting the VIC Media to eventually start yapping that we should just take whatever Saints offer , though that never seems to be the case when we are trying to trade someone in!

As other have said the situation is analogous in that the pre-season draft factor doesn't exist in this trade. I.E. if the trade fails Saint Kilda don't get him. There is a discount for factoring in we get nothing at all if it fails, but I think most people would agree that's far less than when the PSD is in play.
