Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Regarding Acres, you know it’s a shocking list decision when a player you’ve traded out the year before could easily be a trade target for our list the year after… incompetency at it’s finest.
Acres was an integral part of our rise last year.
Our wheels starting wobbling after he did his hammy.
He seemed to get along with the group.
I know he spent some time as the whipping boy on here but he improved so much last year and I was genuinely shocked we lost him over peanuts..
Hindsight my ass. He was heading towards genuine a grader last year.

I don’t think it’s a matter of having space this year, it’s a matter of list management strategy and how to keep together the core of the list they like. Just think when losing the other players they should have realised Acres needed to be kept. Someone needs a kick in the arse for thinking Hughes was anything for a bottom 10 depth player, particularly on the wing
Hughes has been on the list for what nearly 10 years.

If he wasn't a B22 by now he never will be.

It's embarrassing list clogging

My dad was talking to someone who is a close friend of Brennan Cox’s family - apparently he is keen to come home. Hopefully he is bullshitting but just reiterating what I have heard in case anyone is interested, would go some ways to explaining the effort he put in yesterday.

I remember when we had an elite wing, then lost our midfield and that elite wing suddenly was bad. Now we have our midfield performing poorly compared to last year and our wings look poor... comparing to a wing we had last year when our mids were performing better who is playing in one of the best clearance sides in the league.

If you think plugging even the best wing in the league into our side will fix the problem you're in for a wakeup call.

Wingers, forwards and defenders look bad when the midfield play bad.

I'm not at all surprised if true.

Well if he's going home better make that clear this year rather than waiting to be a FA

Considering we are talking about playing a guy who still needs to gain experience and won't just walk in and be elite it makes sense to leave that development to someone else if you won't get the benefit of it next season.
Oh, like we did with Luke Jackson? I like the logic but I think you extend to much credit to the recruiting strategists at Fremantle.

7 years into a rebuild, and we are still a bottom 6 team with no first round draft pick this year.

Hogan, Lobb, Aish, Clark, Jackson in for 4 first round draft picks and 4 2nd.

This is some of the worst list management I have seen, including gold coast.
What also concerns me is we are 7 years into a rebuild and somehow still one of the youngest sides in the competition.

Obviously we need our mids playing well to distribute to oyr wings and forwards but if you honestly think our wings are improving you need a wake up call.

Hughes is not as good as Acres and NOD is out of form. Henry isn't AFL standard either.

What concerns me is I think next year, we will be bottom 6 again. Our forward line, midfield and now our defence is lacking 1 or 2 players at least.

Our player identification is shocking, and we don't appear to have a list management strategy.

I think we all have plenty of very valid concerns.

I think my biggest one is our ability to limit opposition scoring has suddenly ceased.

And I couldn't agree with you more on the list management 'strategy'

Average age is by a matter of months. We were 24yrs 7mths or something this round. The players we drafted in 2016 at the start of our rebuild are all 24 now. I don't really care about our age because that issue comes from the 2013-15 drafts that we ****ed up before all of this.

The issue for me is the experience.

I don’t think many will argue with you. But with a few second round picks we
may find a few of the non Victorian boys who slide?
Even the MSD which we haven’t used could be helpful.
Walls will have his work cut out, but this is where we are at and it’s self inflicted.
What’s scary is that we could give the Hawks a run for their money regarding
how young we will be next year.
I think we must spend bigger in development, otherwise we are forever rebuilding.

Highly doubt that

Jackson was a mistake. If we let him go to the Eagle's last year we could have gotten Ginbey and than added another KPF this year. Our rebuild would have been complete. They thought we were closer to a flag than they actually were.

Absolutely not. Jackson is a KPP but with 3 years development already. He's offering us about as much as a KPF drafted this year would. We are not one Ginbey away from a completed rebuild.
