Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

I disagree, I think we should be doing a fair bit more to retain Liam Henry.
All you have to do is think what he will be like in 2 - 3 years when we could be challenging.
Pull your head out of your arse Bell and Longmuir, ignore his manager and put something decent in front of him FFS.
Die in a ditch? Bloody hell.
I think you mean you agree. I said we should be trying to keep Henry. 👍

With the picks we have it makes sense to not do much.

Take our first couple and then de-list/rookie/elevate as needed.

We can cut Hamling next year.
If Cox blows a knee in game 1 next year, we'd have to play Davies and he's not ready for a whole year
I think you'd actually find it very hard to find an example of a team passing a third round selection at the National Draft. The second pick in the fourth round would be exactly the same.

Those picks will come in 5-10 spots when all the bids are matched. With Carlton's third rounder we're probably talking about passing a selection in the 40s - that doesn't happen.

It will make it more palatable to bundle and upgrade then.

It was obvious as **** on a bull already but it'll be interesting to see the narrative change on here now that JL has directly addressed it.
What was obvious and what narrative is changing. If JL directly addresses a current list question, you would think peoples opinions on it would change, that's just updating your opinion for new information and perfectly reasonable?

Assuming you're referencing Hamling, I dont know what your opinion is but JL's comments can easily be interpreted for both opinions at the moment

It seems pretty clear that they're talking about current narrative on this board that there needs to be x amount of list changes/turnover every season and the club will cut at least 5/6 players vs JL's comments that hint towards minimal list changes this season.

I think there is a case for Sturt to play on a wing. He has shown speed ,has height ,can use the ball and hit targets. Nothing to loose.
I said some months back that they should try Young in the midfield and was shot down, Chapman is the perfect replacement for him in the backline.
I think constant trying of players in different positions can be rewarding, we have the talent ,maybe not all of them are in their best positions

Yes, 5 is minimal changes and 30 years old is not part of a young core under 24

Needs more time there in the wafl (played a couple wing rotation games mid season), has been rushed on his high hff plays quite a bit

Seems to look for the right option but then get smothered or runs so fast that his kicking is suspect

I thought the argument here was 4 vs. 5 list changes? Both are minimal so what JL is saying doesn't really matter.

I thought the opposite when he is starting with the ball outside forward fifty. Actually, I think our forwards kick the ball the best into the forward fifty. There was a couple of beauties to the advantage of the forward kicked by Treacy and Sturt.

Yeah, like I said, both opinions can be validated from what JL said, just depends how you want to interpret it

I'm expected Benning, Colyer and Wilson to be delisted/retire. Henry to request a trade. So there's 4 already. With the picks we have, that's enough movement imho. No-one else really deserves to be cut. Unless someone else asks for a trade, 4 will suffice. Perhaps even 3 if Henry stays.

We currently have picks: #21, #40, #50 and #58 so I would expect any trade involving Henry would look like a pick upgrade as we can only take the picks into the draft for the empty list spots we have.

Let's say it's the Dogs, they have #11, #16, #35, #66, #67 and #71

Henry for #35?
Henry and #40 for #16?
Henry and #21 for #16?

What if it's Melbourne? They have #4, #15, #23, #34

Henry for #34?
Henry for #23?
Henry and #40 for #15?
Henry and #21 for #15?

Benning, Colyer and Wilson to be delisted/retire as you say. Hamling may be pushed. Both Henry and Sturt are possible trades. Between 3 and 6 main list spots. Upgrading 2 from the rookie list will take two main list spots leaves between 1 and 4 main list spots - plus a couple of rookies.

If Henry does go - Henry for Paddy Dow?

hehe

hehe
But of me wants to see us get Dow for * all, and turn him to into a bonafide star, better than Cerra. Just for the lols.

Unfortunately I just don't think he's up to it. :/

Nah, I've got my eye on Dow for West Coast. I think he plays his best footy as the player hunting the ball off the ruck contest and then either breaking out the front of the stoppage or passing it the better users on the outside.

I think he will make Tim Kelly look like a brownlow medalist and they are missing that player while Ginbey develops.
