Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Get that. A fit Elliot Yeo is a Brian Lake move. Risk/reward is huge.

I’ve like what I’ve seen of him off half back the last few weeks.

But what do we do with him when his contract runs out? 800k players don't readily accept a huge pay cut, he's still gonna want at least 500-600k which is a big figure when we have other guys to pay such as Darcy and Cox also coming out of contract.

He’s 29 years old. You reckon he’s going to be a swinging dick where that’s concerned? Where his body’s at I personally think he’d be quietly grateful to still have a contract at a hopefully successful club

I would be worried about the room on the primary list to fit another player prior to the draft.

So I don't know about a future 4th, they might prefer and we might need it to be a player in exchange.

This is where #19 and Yeo for Brodie could be a win for all four parties involved.

19 and Yeo for Brodie?

You really need to stop huffing your own farts. Seriously

It's part of the meme of #19 with Brodie.

But the part about our primary list needing a player to go out to bring one in was serious and that all four parties get a win out of that assuming WC want to free up a spare half a million in salary cap for 2024 enough to pay for it.

I don't think Yeo is as valuable in a trade as it might appear at his age with his significant injury run and near million dollar pay. If he is moving I expect WC to assist the transfer but it's all or nothing, they will either block any move entirely or help him get there.

These trade suggestions are too good for this board, you need to save them for the week of trade radio and call into Sammy Edmund, and suggest it without breaking down into laughter

I could do that but say I'm a West Coast supporter. Asking them what it would take for another club to take on $850,000 a year of a player's salary and see if they can remember one year ago.

We had talks about Gold Coast's Pick 5 earlier and most had opinion that Bulldogs is front runner for that. But at that time they had pick 14 and 16 and sitting 5th on ladder and looking to enter TOP 4. But Now they have pick 11 and 17 and finals not guaranteed.(Their destiny depends on other teams like GWS Essendon, Geelong and their own a 8 point game against Geelong). The way this season is even from 5th to 15th of ladder and teams like GWS,Sydney,Adelaide,Goldcoast,Hawthorn,Fremantle and Geelong will be strong chance to improve next year (North Melbourne also can improve a bit and snatch some wins from other teams), could make it hard to assume Bulldogs will be a lock in TOP 8 next year. Previously they were in better position to trade their 14 and Future 1st for Goldcoast Pick 5, but now in worst case it could be Pick 10/11 +Next Year Pick 7 or 8 or something for Goldcoast pick 5. Gold coast wont trade both picks of Dog's this year 11 and 17 for their 5 as both will be chewed by Academy bids. So they definitely need a future first. I am not sure it will be good for Dogs to trade pick 10/11 and next year first which could be anything from pick 6- 14 which is risk and next year draft may not be compromised as this year.
Will that bring us to the picture even if Twomey didn't mention us as one of the teams in the hunt?
But the main competitor will be Melbourne with Pick 15 and their next year pick may be again 14-16. But our next year pick may be lower than that and this year North Mebourne pick 21 is not that bad for points compared to Melbournes pick 15.
And I am not sure other teams in hunt for pick 5 are in a much better position than us to satisfy Gold Coast.

what do you guys think?

Dont forget to do mah trading game, it is disgusting a Freo supporter with all our trade experience didnt win it last year. I expect better

I think objectively, if we wanted to, our future 1st and pick 22 is as good as anything that could be offered and assuming GC want to move that pick basically entirely to next year, they could throw a blanket over 5 teams they think have the most appealing future 1st outside North and WC (who arent offering that pick).

If GC want to move as much as possible to next year, basically nothing any top 8 team can offer should matter. If they dont, I think they take the two Dogs picks and trade the better one into next year anyway. I dont think anyone else is relevant tbh.

I tell you what they could do actually, assuming they finish below us, they'll see what they can get off Melbourne to upgrade our first, then trade it into next year

What if Gold Coast decide to trade up instead of down? Try and get West Coasts pick 1. Then have a massive deficit they can’t play next year.

I dont think they can get pick 1, if WC trade it, they will want the majority of the value this year. I do hope WC trade the pick though because what their supporters want for the pick is driving me up the wall.

GC MIGHT be best trying to trade to pick 3 with North (assuming North get 3 for McKay and there's a wink-wink, nudge-nudge on bidding) but I think that's overkill. I dont think it's ever a good idea having more than three 1st round picks in a single draft - always seems to have massive diminishing returns

Shouldn’t need to do much trade period.

Trade Henry.

Maybe check with Geelong regarding Darcy?

We have a good young list with depth everywhere. If Hamling goes possibly look at a kpd as depth.

I don’t think freo are in the hunt for GC pick. Think best way to move up is if Henry leaves they try to package him with pick 21. Just not a fan of trading F1 2 years in a row

North likely to go for pick one if they have 2&3
That would tempt the toast. North just need to cobble together a backline
Would make sense for north to go for pick 1 imo

They actively traded it away last year to get 2 and 3

Maybe if wce took 2 and ports 1st for it but I can't see north giving up 2 and 3

I agree. I would think North would far prefer:
#2 (or #3) and #16 for #1

If they are offering WC picks #2 and #3 for Harley Reid the Eagles need to take that deal so fast and run away as soon as the paperwork is signed.

I really really want the pick traded to watch some heads explode
