Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

If we lost Darcy which I hope we don’t, ideal outcome would be a fairly mobile forward ruck.

Rory Lobb would be perfect.

I mean I get it but is Treacy ever going to be that 2-3 goal a game forward when he struggles to even get 1 a game now?

Also I would have thought our forward line is the worst of all positions talent wise. I suppose its just my oppinion though

I disagree with your point on trading Darcy.
But I ageee with your point on Treacy.

So many on here have Treacy locked into a best 22 spot, where I believe he’s the spot we should be looking to add to. Whether that’s Tabs or draft or trade.

Treacy has raw talent, but I think he’s lucky Taberner has been injured all season or we’d have seen Treacy at peel. He’s played some good games, but he’s far from a best 22 lock.

And Fremantle are fortunate that Treacy wasn't playing at Peel all year or we wouldn't have him signed for the next few years - where I would expect his game would grow to surpass Taberner's from as early as next season but more realistically 2025 onwards.

Having seen enough this year of his selfless football, protecting others while they take the mark, kick the goal and bathe in the glory, I feel his contribution to scoring is adequate.

I said it previously that if we had a key forward who took the mark down the line and drew a defender allowing the rest of the forwards to kick the goals and he kicked exactly zero every game but we moved the ball through him and won - that's just fine with me.

My point is more that Treacy might have been dropped a couple times, not that he wouldn’t have gotten opportunity.

You can’t expect Treacy to surpass tabs form next year as they’re diff players.

I think we should be looking to upgrade at his position, as we should be at most positions. He might surpass all expectations next year, but for now I haven’t seen that he will. I hope he does & proves me wrong, but sitting around for it won’t make us better

How much scope do you think Josh has to improve his game next year and beyond?

He’s only going to get better. You can tell he feels like he belongs at this level now. Not sure if you could say that at the start of the year. Benefit of regular games. You can also tell he loves playing alongside Amiss. I wouldn’t want to break that up.
My sense is that Amiss, Sturt and co play with added confidence knowing Treacy has their back.
