Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Love the intel mate. Any idea if we're chasing anybody and if so, who?

Hopefully Sharp is still interested, low risk, less trade value, decent potential reward
We are chasing a big name, but more likely to be next year, and could be hard to get. Been told we are into a few guys this year, but they aren’t big names. I suspect sharp is one, but I haven’t had that confirmed.

Now I'm intrigued, can we have a clue on this big name?

Sam Taylor would be nice 😎
It could be Aaron Naughton too.
Unless we are trying to tempt a non-WA player…

I really hope we're right in Sam Taylor's ear.

Do we need Taylor? We have a stack of backmen. It’s not naughton, although I expect an enquiry would at least be made.
I think he would be an upgrade on Pearce. Probably make us concede one goal less per game at least on average. We can always find room for an AA key defender. Taylor is a freak of nature, one of the most underrated players in the game.

I hope it’s Shai Bolton at the end of next year….
That would be delicious 🤌🏼

Im guessing Logan Mcdonald

Absolutely meh. I’ve seen this guy play quite a lot. There’s not a lot to be excited about.

I’ve got more hope in Treacy becoming elite. You can see that Treacy’s contested work is top notch, has a beautiful long set shot and huge tank. His pressure also makes defenders nervous. He’s got hard hands at the moment, but he’ll clunk more of those in time.

Logan McDonald isn’t much to write home about. Big tank, not much pace, reasonable set shot, not much pressure. I don’t see it.

Yup I don’t see it either. Does not seem like a need while we have Amiss Treacy Sturt and Jackson all developing at the moment

It's probably a standard thing across list teams but we definitely seem to have this trend of chasing players we liked in the draft. Jackson and Clark the most obvious examples but we were also really keen on McDonald. At this point, if Walls rated them highly, it's good enough for me.

In terms of needs, I think an elite small forward would be what I would want us to chase but Kozi Pickett already re-signed and I can't really think of anyone else.

He is literally the perfect match for this list and no one even comes close. I hope we had a good crack at him when he was available. It's a shame there are no elite small forwards in the first round of this draft that aren't 170cm.

We were “enamoured” with Finn Callaghan I remember in 2021.
The following are draft picks we were very interested in over the last few years:
Zac Butters
Liam Baker
Luke Pedlar (process of elimination on this one)
Logan McD (though I think it was more because he was local than anything else)

Maybe he doesn’t pass your eye test but compared to Treacy who he’s barely older than he kicks a lot of goals.

If he were playing here we’d think we’ve got one of the all time best duos on our hands.

and could be hard to get.

If Treacy wasn’t required to ruck, I think he would have made up the goal difference between them.
