Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Believe what you want bro. My contacts aren’t some bloke. If you followed closely you would recognize that. I spoke to my man the day before Cerra announced he was gone. Did they have suspicions? Probably.
For anyone who listens to hase on SEN, I’m “The mate” he refers to. We speak weekly about footy, and I often tell him what I can without giving too much away.
Are you this guy ?

It’s prob one of the rare occasions you can play 2 highly paid, high quality rucks.
Yep, but only if one of them is Jackson.
Melbourne are trying to repeat their cup winning formula with Gawn/Grundy. But Grundy is a fake unicorn.

Difficult to follow the AFL.

They made adjustments to rule if the player was young enough ie Jackson.

It's simple this season, every club can trade their future first. Freo can trade their future first up until 2025 trade period because we used two in 2021, but we won't be able to after that for two years unless we get hold of a spare along the way.

The rumours are very strong now that Henry wants to go to Victoria. Who knows his real reasons but there seems to be a lure to play in Melbourne.
His last few weeks have provided us an insight into his future potential. Henry is a gifted footballer whose body will develop and strengthen and with that his confidence to attack the ball and be more effective at winning contested ball.
It’s only my view but I feel he will be a big loss on the wing. Damaging wingmen who can deliver inside 50 are so important. I think we suffered with the loss of Acres (not in any way due to his inside 50 delivery though). Another important hole in the list to fill, we are unlikely to get much for Henry as a free agent after all of our development effort. A shame we couldn’t hold him. Only those inside the club will know the real reasons.

He’s not a free agent. He’s uncontracted. Unless he’s going to West Coast, North or Hawks. We have some negotiating space. I’d prefer him to stay. Early in the year I thought he was a chance of being delisted. I’m pleased his 2nd half of the year has been strong.

I imagine Brockman would only come to us if he was almost guaranteed a starting forward position, otherwise down the road has better prospects.

I understand he is good, and potential Walters replacement? But in the meantime, i.e. 2024, who does he kick out of our first choice forwards to achieve that from:
JAT - all talls
then Shultz, Mike Wazowski, Walters (2y contract), Sturt, and Freddie?

I don't imagine he would come here only to be depth.

Seems good to get, but what moves to do that?

Let's be honest if it's about their likely impact on game next week rather than potential Bailey Banfield is ahead of Brockman as well.

Banfield might not be the best player on our list but if he's outside our best 22, he's better than most 'depth' forwards around the competition imo.

Grundy dropped again. I get so annoyed when people try to compare Gawn/Grundy to Darcy/Jackson. We’ve never had to drop one so that the other becomes effective. Darcy was literally have a career best season before being injured with Jackson in the team. And Jackson has had several bog games with Darcy in the team.

Maybe Jackson can only play 80% of his best output when Darcy is in the team, but his 80% is better than a lot of other players. And if we can get the mix right like we did in the hawks games early in the year then they will be unstoppable

Jackson shits all over Grundy. The comparisons are disrespectful imo.

Grundy is still a very good ruck imo we're just not going to see it when Gawn is in the team. And Gawn is better.

If Grundy goes somewhere where he the no.1 by a far way he'll prove so many people wrong.

Jackson can play everywhere else better than Grundy though and by a long way.

I think Grundy is legit cooked. Makes sense why Collingwood tried so hard to get rid of him.

A bit of perspective
Grundy is a dual all Australian, but is only effective as a number 1 ruck.
I love Dogga as much as anyone & think he is truly unique, but there is no need to belittle Grundy.
Watch him go to a team like Sydney next year & return to the top 6 ruckmen group with Darcy, Gawn, Witts, English & of course, Jackson

Grundy will be a fine ruckman when he's the main man. It was such an odd decision for the Dees to chase him when they already have Grundy. A little bit like the Bulldogs chasing Lobb last season. Surplus to their needs.

I think Melbourne just saw how Gawn and Jackson worked and assumed they could make it work with a different ruckman.

Grundy still looks like he has it to me tbh. He’s just not a forward and not as good as Gawn. He’s aways been a ruckman and no ones been as good in the ruck as Gawn since Sandilands and Cox imo so no shame in either of those things imo.

Yeah... years ago. But I'm talking about 2023 Grundy.

Some interesting stuff in here

MSD rookies confirmed only 2.5 years but that looks to be set to change immediately to 3.5 years, happy with that

Veterans list is interesting, it would be under the cap so no real benefit but we would get an extra list spot in Fyfe/Walters spot, would help us IMO
