Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

This makes sense to me given the messaging from the club. I get hes highly likely gone, but I'd speculate it isn't (or wasn't) a fait accompli, possible we made our best offer and aren't prepared to budge in matching others?
The words put to me, was he seems legitimately torn on what to do. That he’s being pushed by external sources.

It won’t come as a surprise to anyone here, but the club believes a certain manager is waging a vendetta against the club, and trying to push Henry out the door. Especially after one of our high profile people quit his stable.
Holy shit, it's actually true.

You're talking about JL leaving him I imagine. Wow.

Nah, we are keen to retain hammer. Where’s the parallel? I feel we should have used him more and played cox forward more.
Doesnt it come down to list spots?
  • sharp is definitely being traded in
  • Henry is still not sure and might stay according to you
  • our current list is already full with only Wilson, Benning, hamling, Reidy Williams and Colyer OOC
  • Williams is a cat B rookie so delisting him makes no impact on the others.
  • most people think we need to keep Reidy or replace him with a similar nature Ruck if he goes (unless Knobel advances in 2024?)
  • the as yet unconfirmed veterans list basically creates an extra list spot, which could save hamling by freeing up a spot if Walters was moved to it.

I’d like to keep hamling too but history says it’s very unusual to only turn over 4 players in an off season. The last club to do that was Adelaide in 2012.
TBH I would get rid of all of Banfield, Hughes and Corbett before hamling but they are all contracted for 2024 and he isn’t so…

I’m not great with list machinations tbh. Just passing on what I know.

There may be an article coming in the West in a week or so..
Look forward to it. And thanks for being open about this stuff, I'm sure others would keep it quiet.

Long term injury list Kuek/Walker? (Walker I assume less likely, his injury seems like the type that has a long-ish recovery time, but the real killer is how long it takes to get back to the elite level).

So I posted this in the Liam Henry thread but re-posting for relevance.

Need Chappy and Johnson outta there, fast. Nervous, especially for Johnson in a few years.

Bolded for ones that have moved at least once in their career already. Incredible that WC have had no one move given he seems to have a high strike rate...

I’m guessing the club are 100% positive Henry is gone then.
We don’t really have the list spots available to get Sharp if Henry stays.
Not that this is of any great surprise, you’d think Henry would have announced by now if he was staying.

In hindsight it’s seems like it was well played by Freo to hold off on Sharp next year whilst in the back of their minds assuming Henry would leave

Sharps value has gone down whilst Henrys has gone up
Sharp should be absolutely chomping at the bit for same game time so should come out firing
I’m a bit excited but also concerned as to why on earth he wasn’t getting a game at GC ?

So Henry may stay huh? Interesting. You'd hope he knows better than to listen to the lies Young is feeding him.

Should also add Darcy Cameron to the list of bolded.

And there's rumours of Henry and Fisher on the move already this off season. Rumours of Ryan earlier this season going over east.

What I find really odd is the amount of WA based players getting traded to Victorian teams.

Reckon it’s crazy if we don’t keep Hamling around at least another year. He’s such a pro. Almost never makes a mistake & just gets the job done, no frills. I like the look of our side with Cox up the ground & Hamling back.
He is best 22 for mine.

Play Cox as a forward & Jackson as a ruck rover old school. Brayshaw out to a wing. Chapman/Stanley on the other side. Nod as an inside mid.

We look so much better with Serong surrounded by big bodies like Young & Jackson. Nod fits the description too.
Even Treacy adds a real contest around the ball & he’s smart.

Walls has like him since his draft year.

I remember they had him down the club in the final days of the draft. I think they were seriously considering him depending how the draft went and when a bid would come on Henry.

Wouldn't West Coast be into him? They could get him in the PSD for free.
