Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

And if we didn't take pick 25 for a 30 year old depth KPD I'm never attending a Freo game again.

There's about as much of that happening as me starting in the ruck for Freo round one next year (I'm barely over 6-foot and am not any good at playing footy).

Hope Tabs is encouraged to explore his options. Firstly because he's probably depth and backup now for us, secondly, as a Victorian, he's been bloody loyal to us and I don't think anyone would begrudge him an opportunity elsewhere even if it's a slim chance given his history of not getting on the park.

In hindsight that huge six year contract to Fyfe in 2017 really messed up our salary cap balance. Seems like they backloaded it too.

According to reports the biggest part of his salary was in the first part of the contact.

No way it was backloaded, at least not through the middle years when we fell off the cliff and gutted the list. We had to pay someone.

Yes. In fact what was reported at the time was that he received a signing on bonus that made up part of the reported overall signing. The AFL also paid part of the salary to market the AFL in WA.

Fair enough. I was positive I'd seen at the time a quote either from Hogan or from his manager saying he was going to GWS on a new contract, but I can't track anything down, so I'll go with this version.

At the end of the day Bell/JL wanted him and his salary gone. Whilst Bell was in the current role when Hogan was traded the main responsible party seeing Hogan join Freo was Rosich.

KPD' aren't that hard to get if you have good players around them, they are talking about McKay and Ratagolea as world beaters and they arent that good.

Besides turning Cox into Curtin/Young, can't think of any other benefits there would be.

I very much hope to hear soon that Hamling has signed a new 2 year contract. I actually don't understand why we haven't re-signed him yet. He's very much a required player in my eyes.

Clubs are coming for him, or so the rumour mill says. I'm going to scream if we lose more quality experience by trying to penny pinch of offer 1 year deals when some of the dross who will never play consistently at AFL level have been given 2 year deals.

"Port Adelaide's Tom Clurey is open to a trade despite having two years to run on his contract, while Adelaide youngster James Borlase is yet to receive a deal from the Crows and has attracted rival interest. I reckon there are easily 8 mgt structures better than us in the AFL now.
I don't rate Longmuir, Bell is hit and miss, The ex Prez is a good builder, don't know about the new bloke.
Garlick and Walls are the diamonds, and we could lose Garlick to the Toast!

The only player I'd trade Cox for would have to be an elite KPD like Lever or May. Adelaide/Port don't have one I'd want. We'd be utterly ****ed otherwise. Pearce is no McPharlin.

Why anyone would want to play for him I don’t understand. The allegations aside, he hasn’t been a good coach for over 5 years now. Can’t see why Darcy would want to go there. Seems to be a competitive guy who wants success. No way North is a more attractive prospect for him.
