Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

For its faults, BF does weed out the majority of absolute nuffies. Imagine having likely pick 2 and 3 and thinking there was any scenario you could get a contracted Darcy without losing at least one of them

Hypothetically what would our first demand be if Darcy indicated he would prefer to go home now rather resign or the end of next year? Pick 2 and their future first (F2 back)? Would we ultimately settle on pick 2 outright?

Assuming Darcy has requested a trade because they are offering the largest contract ever, I would start at 2 and 3 and might settle for 2, pick 11 and swap of later futures or something. I tell you what if this gets any wheels behind it at all, that trade thread is going to be a ducking cluster****

Nothing else to talk about so I’ll keep up the fun hypotheticals but yeah, I doubt either is moving. Would be good if they both actually committed though.

On the pay cheque, I’d imagine given the new CBA and North having no one to pay, it would legit be the biggest in AFL history if they got Darcy to move

And the pay cheque would be just that. I think there is still almost zero chance Darcy is going to North, but they would be able to offer him a lot more than us, and also jam it into the front end of his contract while they don't have to pay their recent top draftees the huge bucks yet. Or Geelong can do what they do with their other stars and pay them with real estate and off-field deals. I have hope Darcy will stay with us, but make no mistake that we are relying a lot on his loyalty, as he could get much more financially elsewhere unless we have a sophisticated salary cap rorting scheme.

If the worst club in AFL history managed to swan over here and prize out a contracted 25 yo KPP best and fairest winner from this club, well then what is that point in the club even existing anymore?
Surely this is all bullshit?

They have to get excited about something when all they are looking at the moment are a bunch of C grade role players going there and they will have absolutely no key backs.
