Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

It doesn't hurt making north stronger, but to actively bolster Melbourne and Carlton's stock in a considerable way could really burn us if we start playing finals.
Dumb strategy Freo.
They beat us at home this season. It won't be long before they leap-frog us if we can't out pace their free offerings.

Why do you have to work with them. You spend a lot of time at work so it should be made as pleasant as possible. Instead of promoting arseholes they should be weeded out.
A lot of this wasn't because they were assholes though, it's just because "I don't like them."

Why should someone be moved on just because one or two people don't like them? Especially if they're a good employee and get their work done well? A part of being an adult is working with people you don't like and learning to work with people that you don't like.

That's fair enough. Depends on the degree. Some workplaces put no effort into protecting workplace harmony and tend to put the genuine arseholes into even higher positions of power. I don't think people not wanting to go back to work after COVID is only due to commuting.

Bris and Giants are both considerably better off with Neale and Hogan as well.

North Melbourne will be quite disappointed with their bonus from the AFL.

One end of first this year, maybe two next year if they aren't too good, a couple of rookie spots and although they were allowed to add their first round pick NGA player they don't get to access him before the threshold so it amounts to nothing.

But can they use these picks any way they like? Last time they had to use them to directly to trade in players. ie: Logue and Tucker.

Great lol so the AFL gives them a 2nd round pick last year that they must trade for a player, gifting them Logue for free, and then gives them another pick before that so they can take yet another player before we get to use that compensation
Tbh if north didn’t get those picks last year fair chance Logue would have walked to north in the pre season draft

The real question is given the picks next year are up for review - should they trade them this season to make sure they get value for them before their performance next year potentially sees them removed?

Hehe out of that whole trade we were the only ones who got ****ed.

Melbourne got May and a premiership
Brisbane got a future Brownlow winner, co-captain…and possible premeriship captain.
Port got Rozee
Gold Coast got Ben king

and GWS got Hogan for a bag of chips

It still makes my blood boil.

Wilson, Aish, Matera and co annoy me, but Hogan and Lobb trades cost us two genuine A grades.

Nek Minnit:

Trade radio broadcast-

“so Lordo, North Melbourne have tabled a rather generous offer of pick 19 for Sean Darcy, the pick AFL gave to them…that’s a fair offer for a ruckman who while he has had a few good games, has been injured a bit lately, and he is 25 so you’d think Fremantle should just accept that and get ready for the draft, what do you think?”

”oh that’s right Damian, and you‘d think with Darcy and McKercher, Phillip, Wardlaw, Curtin, Sanders and Edwards, North will have the midfield that will really allow the genius of Clarko to shine through…and look, if they don’t get it completely right, they do have those three first round draft picks for next year…and Clarko will be able to genius that to a premiership…and look, you’d really then have to question just how North, GWS and Gold Coast have all won premiership before Fremantle…”

”oh that’s right lordo, I mean Fremantle have been in over 30 years and had largely the same conditions…”

Lobb I can deal with. The money was more of an issue but at least he at least gave us a couple of half-decent seasons.

Hogan was an unmitigated disaster and is probably one of the contributing factors to our struggles this season.

Lobb was 26 when we joined, had not kick 40 goals in his career.

I don't see why you would bring him in for a top 10 pick.

And incredibly the two teams they are almost definitely trading with are Sydney and Carlton...

I'll hold off really blowing up until I see the trades but the trades for Fisher and Stephens (both picks in the 30s at best) should be interesting given North's incentive to trade those two future late firsts...
