Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Saints offering a future third for Henry 🤢

Knowing how soft we are when it comes to ooc players it wouldn't surprise me if we accepted that. Expecting him to go for a late second at this point.

I was selling my late mums house. One guy had a low ball offer and we refused to deal with him. House was on for $450000 and the guy offered $400000. Pretty sure he wanted it for $425,000. By the way, we sold it $445000.

Treacy adds tackle pressure workrate and halves contests.
I think Logan is the better player, but not by that much.
Not enough at this moment in time to justify selling the farm for him.
If Logan comes in he will be taking Treacys place.

I’m most intrigued by Sturt this off season. Will he work his bollocks off and go to another level again?
Been a big believer always in this guy. He’s capable of kicking bags regularly. There is 40 goals in a fully fit and focused Sturt over a full season I’m sure of it. Has some much needed class to compliment our grunt too.
If and I mean IF McDonald is thing, I really think Treacy can maintain a position in the team…
Left of field but I would look at a couple of options and swingman deployments for Treacy.

Bench - relief ruck and forward, permanent starting interchange player IF we get L Mac.
I see a real world where IF Darcy is looking at being traded - heading home to Vic, Josh would be a real asset as a backup 10-20% ruck.

Backman - Train pre-season with the backs, need depth here and I could really see hm be a key back to n the vein of Liam Jones and Chris Tarrant versatile and keen at the contest. I will probably get shouted down here but I reckon he could be an unbelievable 2nd / 3rd tall back.

I’ve said it before, if we lose Darcy - IMO it’s not a disaster - big average rucks can compete- s long as you have an elite midfield- of which I’m unsure we really have?
I would risk it, Russian roulette- cash in on Darcy currency and load up with LMac…but by god, I would be hoping that we have the faith in Johnson and Erasmus to be the mids that burst from the stoppage to bang it forward to Amiss - LMac -
COLLARD - Sturt - Schultz - Sonny……

I find it hard to believe Saints would be offering a future 3rd for Henry.

I’ll never understand how draft picks don’t correlate to players of demonstrated ability at times.

With priority picks, academy, F/S stuff a 3rd round pick could end up around 50.

What is the chance there are 50 players in the draft better than Henry has already proven to be?
Zero.

While you could argue that Henry’s value is possibly around the low 20s, I don’t see the Saints offering full value for him.

Due to him being out of contract we have little grounds to turn down any faintly reasonable offer. I suspect that we will settle for the Saints pick in the low 30s which will be another disappointing result at the trade table.

Alternatively since St Kilda have no means to slide him to them via the draft and lots of other Melbourne clubs ahead of them in the list if they do, then it's entirely on them to achieve a trade or they don't get their player.

I don't mind if they stuff around like Freo did with Mitch Clark, for the same eventual outcome.

Crazy Belly knows his reputation is on the line. Suspect he will go down swinging and be a hard campaigner.

Well let’s hope he does..cause last trade rivals Crazy Vossy.

Got laughed at on here a few weeks ago by some for saying Henry would go for a second round pick at best. I thought at least that saints might try upgrade 32 to 27 or so and offer us that. Reading that report, we appear to be asking for an F2 and they are offering an F3.
It could end up being an F2 for henry and an F4.
The trade is definitely getting done people talking about the PSD are being silly.

I’m not sure if this has been confirmed but I’m sure I read somewhere the end of first round pick given to North is going to be the first selection in night 2 of the draft.
Handy little perk for north there if that’s true.

The Henry deal is one that has a small but real possibility of with him ending up at another club via the PSD. Freo has every incentive in the world to hold out for the very greatest amount of compensation Saint Kilda is prepared to offer short of walking away. If they misjudge what that amount, well there you go.

I think that this time SOS will be the one to fold. Although what constitutes folding will be unlikely to satisfy everyone in here.

Unlikely but we aren’t accepting Blake Acres level of trade price on this one. Henry will cost Second round pick. The pre-season draft will definitely come into discussions.

Personally discussions around a first round pick are way off the mark. Also discussions around band 1 compo for Gresham are pipe dream stuff. Band 2 would be early 20’s. That may well come into play with us chucking something back, like pick 55.

We’re starting at 15-20 and Saints F3. Something around 21-26 will be about par.

Agreed.

Saints won't get him for as cheap as they think, but they won't give up as much as we want.

We won't get as much as we want, but won't accept their initial offer.

Both teams find a middle ground after flexing for a week, then say they both won by neither team giving in.

All in all, hopefully a big name player (not from freo) asks for a trade, because this years trade period looks extremely boring

Doubt there is any truth to that haha
Used to work with his old man a million years ago, so if for nothing else this would give me fewer degrees of separation to the players.

Come on, give me something positive out of trade period.
