Wondering if a readymade type would be better with Williams going down

Someone like a Markov, that could step straight in
Agreed. Ready made would be ideal.

We dont need any more speculative ex basketball players!

Reckon we missed an opportunity in making some tough calls in 2022.

For all the noise about "big changes". We cut low hanging fruit, when a couple of from this group needed to be shopped, traded or cut.

Im with you Arrow, need to start pruning this group

It is tough to make such changes when players have contracts and the draft pool is relatively weak. Only Marchbank and Cuningham were OOC at the end of 2022. We probably should’ve made the call on one of them but both would be on effectively base wage.

This season I expect us to make deeper cuts. Philp, Kemp, Gov, Honey, Marchbank, Cuningham need to show some durability.

We have enough good players on our list now that we can delist some talented players that aren't durable. In previous years while it was a good idea in theory I can understand why the club kept injury prone players that we thought could contribute to the first team vs keeping or drafting guys that were fit but couldn't.

I don't think Kemp belongs on that list. He has been durable since recovering from his ACL. Boyd is sneaking under the radar as an injury prone player. Hopefully he gets a clean run after this ankle.

Oleg Markov 🤝 Adam Saad

Fastest HB line in the competition
Whilst clearly there is a need for a back up general defender I would hope that we could find better than Markov.

The reason that he has been delisted by the Tiggers and the sun's is that although he is quick he continually runs himself into trouble and turns the ball over in bad positions.

This place would go mental if he was playing consistently. Plowman × 3.

Kemp on that list because he is OOC and probably missed more footy than he has played, but I agree he stands out from the rest.

Not sure Kemp should be in that group?
ln fact l am sure he has a couple of years to take the next step.

Drafted in the same season as Philp and Honey who won’t be afforded the same amount of time.
Believe there will be many in front of him.
He has a good chance to cement a spot this season with the regular injury players again looking unlikely to see any change in that space.
Kemp was solid in the few games he played last year, Philip has not even got on the park.

We have a list spot open now with the Williams news.

Wonder if we add someone now or carry the vacancy through to the mid season draft.

I suspect we’ll go the latter. It’s hugely unfortunate news but we have plenty who can play off half back.
Wouldn’t it be likely we will have a spot open for the mid season draft even if we take someone now? It looks like Philp and Williams are out and that before we factor in any other in season injuries.

Currwntly we can pick anyone we want, in the MSD even if there was someone we wanted, we need to hope they make it to us.

Pick now I say

Who else? Would the former Pie and Noble Park star be tempted to give AFL another go?

Scratch that, he is already 32, geez where do the years go,

Markov requested a trade to the Suns and Richmond got a 3rd rounder for him.

Docherty goes back for sure now.
Left field thought..and please discuss without being personal.
The modern game has been full of examples of guys going to the half back line.
Rich Caleb Daniel Liam Jones.Penndles, Hodge for example.
Is there someone on the list we could try there.
Id say someone with run and can use the footy.
Jack Carroll?
Paddy Dow?
LOB?
As i said earlier, someone who can make the opp have to watch them which helps Saad
Fogarty.

Tell you what pb, I was thinking about the same point today and one name that I wouldn’t mind trailing is Cottrell. IMO, the guy might see the game better and become more involved form back there. He has the right defensive attitude.

Plenty of cover for Zac position wise, but the run and carry he provides won't be replaced. Interested to see which of the younger players is the beneficiary, Carroll, Kemp, Cowan. Maybe Doc goes back and Hollands into the midfield mix. No more injuries though please..
