Wednesday, August 30 - Cut day
Rosters cut down from 90 to 53

NFL Network is included on WatchESPN, or the free tier of Gamepass now on CUNZ
NFL Network will take local feeds of games, most of the time the home team.
ESPN will always take the Rams local feed, due to them claiming Australia and an international market
Some games NFL Network will be joined in progress or left early to get the start of the next game.

Eagles released P Arryn Siposs.
Siposs has spent the last two seasons with the Eagles but struggled with consistency throughout his time there. Now, the Birds will look to bring in a new punter ahead of their Week 1 opener against the Patriots, with several options set to become available on cut-down day.
Always nice having an Aussie punter but Siposs wasn't great. Be surprised if he was picked up again.

Blake Grupe is the only kicker on the Saints' roster after they traded WIl Lutz to Denver on Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

The Saints had enough confidence in the undrafted rookie to trade away a player who'd been their kicker since 2016, though Lutz missed all of 2021 and then had his worst season in 2022. Grupe is listed at 5-foot-7, 156 pounds, making him one of the shortest and lightest players in the NFL at any position, including among specialists.
Really happy for him. He's good friends with the young fella that I taught and boardered with me a few years ago. Both in special teams at Arkansas State, as punter and Blake as place kicker. Blake didn't have a scholarship at A State and didn't get the starting position or a scholarship until his second year,
Seemed a bit of duck out of water in the locker room in the short time I spent visiting a couple of times a few years ago. Picture a tiny white guy place kicker, in amongst a predominantly boisterous, black, mountain of men situation, he was a bit of an easy target for taking the piss.
Has many records at A-State and transferred to Notre Dame for his last year of eligibility
Great result for him.

There are a number of surprise cuts. Some after i stopped posting too.

I guess Pats want to claim another QB, seen enough of Zappe. Or, dont want there to be some kind of QB controversy?

Will Grier, hell even Colt McCoy if Bill wants a non-controversial 'vet' behind him?

We kept Matt Corral ffs. If you feel the need to carry 3 QBs cut his ass and claim Zappe please.
I was thinking exactly the same thing for the Vikings - Zappe >>> Jaren Hall

Bailey Zappe being cut a bit of a shocker, thought he showed some promise last year
Someone has to pick him up. He was as good if not better than Jones. and had a better attitude [perhaps thats why he is gone].
The only reason Jones got the starting job back last year was because he was a 1st round pick.

I feel glad that DTR made the roster, will never know how he fell so far in the draft unless scouts just didnt watch Pac-12 After Dark. but also feel sad he is stuck at the Browns behind Watson.

The recent arrest/incident probably the reason for the chabge of heart...

Jimmy Graham was not included in the Saints' final cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline, NewOrleans.Football reports.

New Orleans coach Dennis Allen reiterated Tuesday that Graham's performance over the final two weeks of the preseason went a long way toward securing him a roster spot, per NewOrleans.Football. The 36-year-old unexpectedly signed a one-year deal with the Saints in late July after he sat out the entire 2022 season, as it seemed like his time in the NFL may have come to an end following his career-worst season with the Bears, in which he caught 14 of 23 targets for 167 yards and three touchdowns. His comeback to New Orleans then seemed to be in jeopardy after he experienced a medical episode Aug. 19 just ahead of the team's preseason contest versus the Chargers. However, he returned to practice four days later and suited up for the preseason finale versus Houston, catching three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. The five-time Pro Bowler should now slot into a reserve role alongside Foster Moreau while up-and-coming tight end Juwan Johnson likely accounts for the majority of targets at the position.

Watch out Dak😂

Jerry telling the media that not only did Dak not know about this, but he also didn't run it past head coach McCarthy.

And now he comes out and says that if Jalen Hurts had fallen to Dallas' pick in the draft, Jerry would have taken him too.

Talk about turning up the heat on QB1 and the HC - never change Dallas - the gift that keeps on giving.

Little wonder as to why they made the call

"Last year Siposs graded out at No. 33 among the 36 punters that Pro Football Focus tracked for the season. Things somehow got even worse in the 2023 preseason, with Siposs ranking 41st among 42 graded punters."

He can't even go back and get a game at St Kilda either

Kareem Hunt has received contract offers from four teams the past few weeks, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

None of the offers has been to Hunt's liking, though he might lower his standards a bit -- in terms of salary or role expectation -- now that the start of the regular season is less than two weeks away. The 28-year-old visited Indianapolis and New Orleans earlier this month and both teams could still use a veteran RB for at least the early part of the season.

Myles Gaskin is signing with the Vikings on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Cut by Miami a day earlier, Gaskins lands on his feet with a team that has minimal experience in the backfield behind Alexander Mattison. The Vikings also kept Ty Chandler and Kene Nwangwu (undisclosed) on their initial 53-man roster, but the latter's presence may be about special teams more so than offense. Gaskins started 17 of his 27 games for Miami between 2020 and 2021, averaging a 158-598-3 rushing line (3.8 YPC) and 45-311-3 receiving line (5.7 YPT) over the two-season stretch.

Vikings waived WR Jalen Reagor.

Reagor was mostly a special teams player for Minnesota in 2022, catching eight of 13 targets for 104 yards and a touchdown in limited offensive action. The former Eagles first round pick is now on the journeyman trajectory, likely to catch on with another team in search of wide receiver depth of a kicker returner. The Vikings had reportedly received trade calls about Reagor, 24, before waiving him.

Steelers signed CB Desmond King, formerly of the Texans.

King profiles as a depth piece for the Steelers secondary, graded by Pro Football Focus as last year’s tenth worst coverage unit. Forced to play on the boundary in 2022, King struggled in a poor Houston secondary. He’ll likely serve as a slot corner in Pittsburgh.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said “no trade was close” for Jonathan Taylor before the Colts placed him on the PUP list.

Taylor is pursuing a “top of the market” contract extension, according to Pelissero. That was enough to turn off potential suitors who considered acquiring Taylor before Tuesday’s deadline. Now Taylor, struggling with a back injury, will miss at least the first four games of the season. We could hear more trade talk before the NFL’s October trade deadline, though it’s hard to imagine a team desperate to acquire an injured Taylor.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Bills signed OT Germain Ifedi, formerly of the Falcons.

The Bills were left with an immediate need for depth behind starting left tackle Dion Dawkins following roster cuts Tuesday. Ifedi brings a veteran presence and is capable of providing starter-level snaps should there be an injury ahead of him on the exterior offensive line.

Always nice having an Aussie punter but Siposs wasn't great. Be surprised if he was picked up again.

Suspect he'll make his way back onto the practice squad in the meantime which allows them to start him in the first 3 weeks without placing him on the 53. But certainly hoping they've found someone else they like.
