really worried about our midfield. their mids turned our guys inside out with their running patterns and handballing. absolutely bamboozled our guys. its where we lost the game. their passing into f50 made our defenders jobs near impossible so Im not cut with our defenders. midfielders is where its at.

We were incredibly fumbly tonight. It hurts so much that a side has rebuilt and gone past us. They say percentage is usually a pretty good indicator and ours is 96%. I don’t buy that it’s just one week, it’s really concerning. It makes me so depressed

I think we need to talk about the elephants in the room, our midfield our forward line structures. We play with zero overlap, zero instinct in running into position for the handball, no 2 or 3 players in a chain of possessions to move the ball. It hardly every happens, even when we win.

Once we are beaten at the clearance we get absolutely spanked around the packs. Our lack of leg speed is exacerbated because of it.

Our forward line setup is pathetic. We never, ever find loose players inside 50 in traffic. Teams do it to us all the time, find holes. The smart teams keep the ball away from McGovern, weitering and young going inside 50. But when we come up against a team like Adelaide who have aerial threats inside 50 our defensive setup is made a mockery of and they control the air and find space everywhere inside 50.

Obviously Ross didn’t do something that heinous that he’s still in the AFL system. We royally screwed ourselves with every coaching decision we’ve made since sacking Brittain.

Ross and SOS sitting tonight and laughing.
Forget SOS. He was not a great success, all things considered. But, as I said in other posts, we should’ve appointed Lyon. At least he would’ve taught Defence.

Before you give votes to leading possession getters folks, take a look at their disposal efficiency. Ed wins the AFL ranking points, but his efficiency is in the 50s despite only a third of his possessions being contested. We have to move on from this.

Jumped in the 1st, but never looked like getting back in the game

Our setup in the 1st qtr was truly horrendous. Add a lack of intensity, it was like we were witches hats

Playing slow mids off HB, should end tonight

Dawson dictating terms, without any pressure was bizarre. Acres would have been the right matchup

Missing players with some toe doesn't help, but would have made little difference with that level of intent

Another tough game next week, a decent response is a must
We won’t get near the Saints based on tonight’s “effort”

some coaches back to the drawing boards

this kind of loss has been on the cards. dirty night for a few in the middle. plow not the issue, no-one in defence had much of a night to be proud of.
we have it in us to turn it around but other teams will see we can be chopped up. may need to dip into the ressies for some hungrier, faster players.

I tipped Adelaide. Knew we had no chance. They're just going so well at home at the minute - and we're not. They don't have 1 single injury. We haven't been able to say that for 15 years.

Not all doom and gloom.

If we played them next week at Marvel I'd tip us.

What exactly is our method with the ball in hand? What's with all the blind hacking and panic kicks? Last year, we had a system. We don't this year.

Where was the ruthlessness of last year? What has happened to our heralded engine room? It looks like a shadow of its former self.

Why are the players so damn hesitant to send the ball forward?

And what the **** is up with our fourth quarter performances? Have not won a single one.

WE HAVE REGRESSED! END OF STORY.

So we had 2 more inside 50's and got rolled by 9 goals.
2 coleman medallists in the forward line and still can't kick a score. Our forward defensive pressure is genuine shizen. Something has to change and quick
Bomb, Bomb, Bomb that’s all we do when we go forward. The slow play doesn’t help. Our small forwards are tiny and we lack a genuine third tall. The game plan is tooooooo slow.

I went almost nobody in the poll, thought Newman beat Rankine which was a phenomenal effort considering how much of the ball went into our back half. Walsh Cerra pass mark Silvagni, Hollands tried their guts out.
With such a big build up in SA and coming up against Adelaide in the first game it was a tall order, they actually looked like they were on drugs.

A shellacking - but it’s not the end of the world. It’s one game.
Yes only one game.... but a game that saw an insipid playing group one step behind the opposition at all times, an already wobbly percentage barrel further south, and a reminder of how we continue to show our lack of credentials to play with the big boys. It's been almost two decades now but pragmatically we are still off what is needed to be serious contenders for a flag.
