What about Hewett?
Early days we thought he would line up on a half forward flank since Rioli's spot is vacant but haven't heard a peep about him since. The lack of chatter feels like a nail in the coffin to a round 1 berth. There's been more chatter about Long impressing in a forward position

First time poster but thought I would start with my view on the probable 'rookies' likely to play Rd1.
Have considered anyone under $200K to be a rookie although many are not first year players.

DEF
  • Corey Wagner D/M $117K
  • Darcy Wilmot $123K
  • Josh Weddle $130K
  • Conor McKenna $167K
  • Josh Goater M/D $192K

MID
  • Corey Wagner M/D $117K
  • Oskar Baker M $123K
  • Will Phillips M $158K
  • Mattaes Phillipou M/F $166K
  • Lochie Fogarty M/F $167K
  • Toby McLean M/F $178K
  • Cam McKenzie M $180K
  • Josh Goater M/D $ 192K
  • Nik Cox M $198K

Special mention : Will Ashcroft M $202K

FWD
  • Jacob Van Rooyen $123K
  • Josh Bruce $161K
  • Mattaes Phillipou F/M $166K
  • Ben King $176K
  • Toby McLean F/M $178K
  • Harry Sheezel $198K

Have omitted many popular choices like Chesser, Ginbey, Sinn etc. as I believe they are unlikely to be ready for Rd 1.

Still a long way out and the preseason will have a huge influence, but available rookies will influence structure.
Have I got it close to right??? Welcome any and all discussion.
Could add Stone and Comben to the forwards. Possibly Chandler too, maybe?

Fergus Greene FWD as well

Looks like an oversupply of forwards at this stage. May have to push a couple to the mids.

If the best rooks are FWD, load 'em up and push cash where it's weaker.

5 deep in DEF with a rook at F3 mebeeee?

Yep, you simply have to get cash gen.

This is my current forward line, could push a couple of mid/fwd's into the midfield if needed. Means you are probably going to field a KPP rookie though.

Don't think it's worth getting too worried yet. There will be injuries between now and round 1 that give a few rookies a chance.

with the content posted in the last day or so it looks like its time for the Rookie Table

while still very early and with limited information here is a very sketchy guide

Comben and Larkey are our only two tall forwards.
CCJ is theoretically possible, but he trains with the rucks.
You can lock Comben in. He’s more likely for round one than even McLean.

Surely Greene is a lock too.

Love your work TTR. This was awesome last year, great to see it back!

GWS article, “diminutive Darcy Jones – the No.21 pick at last November's NAB AFL Draft – is also firming as a round one bolter, having excelled this summer.”

He has been in most of my teams so far at M11

Sometimes radio silence after early chatter means the opposite - lock Hewett in!
