He's 185cm and solid for a 19 year old. Big wraps as a junior (like most kids). The fact he missed almost all of last year and he's in round one is interesting.

Agree his JS is shaky, will need to play well to hold his spot.

Nope. He will be playing deep full forward and either taking clunkers or spill the ball for Butler, Higgins and Gresham.

Played 1 quarter of football since 2021 make him an easy non selection.

I reckon he’ll do alright but can’t see him sticking in the team with lemmens, Weller, powell all to return shortly

I think they’ve gone with him for Sydney specifically who have quite a few agile mid sized forwards who are also good in the air.

Maybe. Certainly Phillips has more talent. They play quite different roles though.

Greenwood is a big old body who you select for his work without the ball: he does the defensive work at stoppages to allow LDU to do his thing, and he's a tackling machine.

By contrast, Phillips you select because you want the ball in his hands.

Except that a lot of the praise I have read about Phillips refers to his defensive positioning and willingness to do the thankless things, and also his voice out on the field which is beyond his years apparently.

We'll find out soon but I'd be super surprised if he wasn't named

All that is true. Greenwood is also 10kg heavier than Phillips, 10cm taller than Phillips. He also has actual proven form: he got more contested possessions than all but a couple North players last year, and he laid more tackles than anybody in the league a couple years back. And he’s impressed the coaches this preseason.
Like I said, different skill set.
