I've averaged 126 from my skippers this year.

Haven't accepted a VC score below 120. Only once did I eat a sub-100 score (95) when I ignored a 119 VC.

Definitely haven't nailed the C/VC this year, though, as Stick Insect last week was my first one over 140.

Don't have Trac and only got Laird and Bont in recent weeks. :(

All you guys keeping stats appear to be pretty close. Only 5-10 points a week over the course of the year. Which can easily be cancelled by an early injury or late out in any given week.

I suppose looking at who you could have VCed each week would yield a slightly different result. But it's always a gamble and you're never gonna pick the best choice every week.

Personally I think the key with captains is not having a shocker (Laird's 50 in RD1).

As you say it probably evens out over the season that you cop a couple of bad ones.

But then 2 x 10 points a week is 480 points for the season, which makes a huge difference if you play for overall.

Fun exercise. Didn't go as bad as I thought. Still off the pace thought.
The Tom Stewart Thursday night debacle still haunts me.
The Gawn VC for a 0 in Round 2 was scary, as C'ed Laird coming off a 50!

I might be getting confused cos the vc/c stuff usually breaks my brain but I think it would only be 240 points over the year. (If you are suggesting one person averaging 120 and another 130).

I was inspired to do my VC/ C list as well.

My failure was Laird VC in RD1, but evened out by the highlight of Gawn in RD18.
The weird thing is, if you add them up and divide by 2 - it's pretty much my captain's average o_O

I've had a bad start with captaincy, but recovered with a series of good VC from RD13 onward - hopefully that continues :D

So my average has got to a respectable 131 - phew!

Average: 137.7

Starting Clarry was key to good captain scores the first 10 or so rounds. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there as I held him on the bench for 6 weeks thinking it was a short term hammy and he’d be a good pod for the back half of the season.

This round looks pretty straight forward, Bont/English VC (leaning towards Bont) and Petracca C

This thread really highlighting the importance of following the absolute gun players and not putting the VC or C on random kents like Noah Anderson, Tim Taranto, Jack Sinclair (though this worked cause he scored 136) and Tom Green. Some of my selections this year have been bizarre.

I will probably put the VC on Bont and then the C on Gawn if he is solo rucking again without Grundy.

A shame Melbourne are playing so late in the round as I would have preferred to put the VC on Gawn.

My worst captain this year was Laird in Round 1 with 50 who would be considered an absolute gun and a reliable captain option.

My next worst captain was Gulden who scored 96 against North, seemed like a good idea though after he had scored 156 in the previous two games.

I was curious about this myself, so gave it a go:

RdCaptain (score)Average
1Oliver (113)113
2Bontempelli (125)119
3Oliver (156)131.3
4Daicos (151)136.3
5English (139)136.8
6Bontempelli (182)144.3
7Marshall (159)146.4
8Oliver (136)145.1
9Gulden (156)146.3
10Marshall (126)144.3
11Bontempelli (124)142.5
12Merrett (137)142
13English (99)138.7
14Dunkley (137)138.6
15Dunkley (122)137.5
16Bontempelli (114)136
17Neale (142)136.4
18English (173)138.4

The English one in round 13 has been my only howler, when I passed up a 119 from Marshall. Would be on 139.5 avg but for that.

Thinking English into Naicos is the safe play this week, but the Bombers haven’t given up a big score to a ruckman in a long time. 🤔

It does feel like my team never quite recovered from that Laird round 1 captaincy.

I think if you are 135+ you are ahead of most for captains scores. Suspect you are probably ranked very high?

I think SC Data can show the best coaches at picking captains scores.

I've only nailed 7 VC's all year. Not great.

Haven't owned Nicky D or really had a chance to buy him due to injury.

3 captain scores under 90 is brutal, hence the 129 captain average, once again not great. Lost 60 points by not taking a VC score with the 3 sub 90's.

Let's see if I can get over 130 on the run home. English VC this week.

Currently sitting 2767 in rank atm. Have been very lucky this year with captaincy I think - only 8 of those have been VCs, and 2 of my scores came from forgetting to change Cs due to life (Rds 11 and 17).
