Position 2023 Rucks

It's good advice though. Especially this year with so many injuries. Too many sideways trades risks not completing your team.

The notion of scarcity and limited trades doesn’t need much explanation

I’m taking the p155 😂

Advice like this always has a big “depends” attached and aren’t hard and fast rules to live by because one punter got lucky….

Holding Doch - fail
Holding Stewart - success
Holding Neale - fail
Holding Witts - fail
Holding ROB - inconclusive
Holding Cogs - inconclusive
Holding Hopper - inconclusive
Holding Butters - fail

Generally yes but there's always exceptions. If Witts is injured this early and workload is a problem there's prob only downside / job share or more rests going fwd

You also trade out premos based on role change ie Macrae

But generally it's a hold if there's solid history they will come good

I know this decision is a few weeks away, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Who will be the best cheap ruck to downgrade to when Esava maxes out? Ideally I don't want a perma donut, I want somebody who could get some games and hopefully make some cash.

Are any young rucks pushing their case in the 2s?

Will Port turn to Teakle as Lycett looks done?

I dont think this really matters in the ruck department. Teams with an established #1 ruck or ruck duo, will only blood youngsters pending injuries you'd think.

Start looking at teams with depleted ruck stocks and hope to pick the one team who cops an injury in the ruck deparment.

Otherwise go for a DPP loop who plays predominantly on Sundays.

Ramsden kicked 2 against Geelong and 4 on the weekend against pies in VFL. He’s very green but he’s putting his hand up to come in as a tall forward/second ruck. Injury only thing stopping him debuting this season

Ned Moyle the only one I’d think.

Best hope for a playing ruck is a 250k guy like Briggs.

Better off keeping Esava as back up I’d think OR bringing in a perma donut R/F in 6-8 weeks when DC is back, giving you ruck coverage for the back half of the season. Also Jackson an option, but can’t see him going over 85.

I intend to eventually switch Jackson to FWD as a backup for my two main rucks. Toggling with a R/F at R3

Grundy owners, let's chat

he'll be $593k with a BE of 136

It will cost you about $90k to turn him into English

Next 3 opponents are North, Suns and Hawks

Is anybody thinking of holding him?

Trading Grundy means missing out on an upgrade, leaving a spud rookie on field

Wilmot/Cowan to Day/Cogs = +60 points (could be more)
Grundy to English = +50 points (could be less)

If I had him I'd probably HOLD. Could have easily tonned up tonight

The problem is IF Melbourne weren’t losing they would have persisted with Gawn rucking & Grundy sitting on the bench

Only when they changed tactics is how they ended up winning

Would look closely at boosting and Teakle as R2

Swap Grundy to a fallen premium that’s 100-150k cheaper to preserve value of a trade. (Will Day as a breakout premium?)
Cash out 300k ish rookie for another 100-150k to Teakle and preserve value of a trade.

Then either wait to double upgrade the next week or use a boost to upgrade

I'm going to hold Grundy for one more week.

I hope the Dees listen to Hardwick and appreciate that Grundy turned the match when he was rucking. Gawn also did well when he stayed forward for that period of time too.

BE of 132, he isn't going to hit it, but I think he can crack the ton, albeit a low ton, and only drop $10k-$15k.

I'll re-assess next week.

Conversely, English is playing HAW this week

Does it matter who he plays? He's getting most of his points from touches. He looks like a lock for 130-150 every week, no matter the opposition.

His BE is 123, so he won't rise too much.

Not doing Grundy to English means I can upgrade elsewhere. Depends how you predict players will score and whether you gain/lose by upgrading Grundy or others.

I'm planning on holding him until the wheels fall off

I'd be happy with 80s and 90s for the next few weeks

Although I think he's still got good scores in him, even if he's sharing

Tomorrow night will tell us a lot
Yep, I thought about trading him for Mr English but I just know he’ll break down if I do. Hoping like buggery that Grun Dogg can at least keep going 90+, Goody needs to sharpen up.
