I don't think he understands that you only get the compo once the offer is lodged though... you may not have an idea of what you are going to have until then

In a nutshell for those who dont want to listen:

He's of the opinion it should be linked to what the original club has offered, say if we offered McKay a contract that met band 2 compo that's what we would get (then proceeds to complain teams slip down the ladder as a result of compo but its hard to keep track of his argument)
The club then has the right to match and force a trade
Capitalism and market forces haven't made its way into his head though, Lenin would approve

It’s been reported Geelong are holding pick 8 to draft night. Will only trade once Sanders is off the table.

Perfect scenario would be to get GWS pick to take Sanders (if available) then trade with the cats.

Makes sense you wait and see who is available and move from there if the ones you want have gone or the one you want has slid somehow.

We cant get premium picks if we dont offer up premium picks. Its about trying to place them in the best ways to improve our list.

Trade radio now wants us to trade 18 for X Duursma (because we have so many picks anyway) so poort can use it for Rata.

The last thing we need is a forward who wants more midfield time and what we really need is a key defender. So why don't we just give Cats pick 18 for Rata and **** Port right off.

I can't see that we'd be looking to trade that pick for a player. It'd be more leverage to move up the draft.

I'm still holding out hope that Clarko has a final something up his sleeve.... Darcy, Scrimshaw, Spargo all talked about early on, or maybe someone else out of left field. But as you say worse case a 7/8 should still net us an Osull or Caddy
