Think it might be better listing the players out of contract at end of 23.
FA look thin in quality
Hunter Clark will be the easy get for us this year out of contract

The out of contract list this year in general is not that great either

Clubs have done well over the last 12 months to lock players in (including us eg getting LDU signed before the season started)

Personally think the FA list is fine for where we are at too... no there aren't any A class superstars on there but if there was are we in a positive to entice them over no probably not. But btw the four mentioned earlier Himmel, Doedee, Grish and Moore these are good solid AFL std players that will add to the depth of our team....

isn't Bailey Williams also FA

Rawlings in commentary box: "We've stripped back the salary cap so we can bring in mature talent over the next couple of years"
You’d think Thomas’s contract would go down, and would assume Stevo, Corr front ended, give McKay a big contract and we’ve still got plenty of space, just who is worth spending on?

Still have cat b rookie spots available

Afl site reported a few clubs circling a 211cm bloke who chose basketball over footy

We really should be trying to get these cross coders who have footy backgrounds as a free hit
Maybe read the article first mate...

"Condon isn't able to be listed by a club as a category B rookie until after he has gone three years since his most recent game of football at any level – meaning he wouldn't be able to join an AFL club officially until late 2024 at the earliest."

I wonder who we're after.
Clarko and co clearly have their eyes on some players
I imagine that they're looking for an elite winger (after the Brad Hill offer fell through), and the trialing of TT and Sheezel at half back suggests they're looking for someone with elite skills to fill that gap too.

Pie in the sky thinking... someone like McCluggage and Sinclair, who will be pre-agents this year, would be pretty good justifications to open the warchest.

So would someone like Ben Ainsworth from the Suns, who could help with our lack of legitimate small forwards.

Then there's Hunter Clark.

Point still remains we should be trying to have a free hit as some cat b rookies

Other clubs have had more success with this than us but partly cos we barely use it

What a radical idea. Can't believe no one else on this board has thought of that.

My point remains that you just read the headline of the article.

Should be looking at Ireland for speedsters

We are 0 from 2 with our Irish efforts.

Connor Meredith was terrible and Red Og Murphy (Rip) never really got a chance to give it a crack.

For every Zach Tuohy there are 12 other Irish kids that don’t even get close to making it, with the vast majority not lasting 18 months.

Still worth a crack. You don't try, you don't get.

I wonder if the Cat B strikerate for a club mirrors their general strikerate?

Our talent identification and development for 2010-20 didn't seem too flash so any Cat B kids brought into the system in that time might need to be weighted against that.
