I'm keen on Miles Bergman at Port. I believe out of contract at end of year. Perfect age, strong winger, good grounding and ready to peak. Worth giving attrative contract to.
If we miss on hunter Clark I’d be happy to go for him as he’s out of contract and port have no leverage

Be nice to poach one back on pooort

From the various drafts (incl MSD) we need;
  • Nick Watson
  • wingman
  • kpf
  • developing kpd

Whether the wingman or kpf are a lower pick or the 1st rounder really depends of available players and how guys go this year (Comben, Goater, other wingmen).

After that we want to accept any AFL level player that we can get at any position. Preferably including a reliable depth KPD.

Quick enough? He seems another average paced flanker type, albeit with more game awareness and more hardness than most of our flankers

IIRC he was one of the early steak knives requests when the JHF trade talk started but he wasn't interested. Or maybe it was wishful thinking. Seems like years ago now.

James Jordon is one that was mentioned before that every time I see him play I’m impressed. Is in and out a lot but is always used as a centre square mid when he plays. 22, 6’2ish and played around 50 games. That Melbourne midfield isn’t old either. Would be worth a look

Also not OOC till next year and plays at a very strong club but Nathan Murphy is someone I’d be very interested in too

Thoughts on going after someone like Lachlan Gollant? Struggling to get consistency as a smallish key forward behind Tex, Fog and Thilthorpe. Can also play wing and would probably not cost a lot.

I thought he would’ve been a good target last year.
Every time I watch him I’m impressed, just behind Walker and Fogarty atm.

Nice little North link too, had some uncles play for North and his great uncle is Vic Lawrence.

How’s this scum club. Refuse to rebuild properly, so instead try and poach our early picks.

I wonder if Rawlings dealings with Cripps at Port last year might have resulted in this early signalling. Jonathan hay, Nathan Thompson, lekkas, picioane etc were out the door pretty quick under clarko. Could a similar thing be happening here? He might be after a certain type of defender or he may value player capital in other parts of the ground?
What's the upper/lower bound for compensation look like if McKay were to depart?

I would chuck in a project ruck (Free ain’t it) and a tall mid after those priorities.

From all reports over the summer, our backs didn't really gel with BM back there.

He's a great one on one defender but with a high press you're looking at 2 on 3 with a third dropping back on transition. The judgement to leave your man when that happens becomes vital.

Our own Robbie Tarrant is struggling to adapt to Richmond's system for the same reason. He came out of our system where we defended deep and he was the anchor. It's a different mentality that's required when your team defends high up the ground.

I reckon he could become a mason wood type. IIRC for PEGS and Calder he played more wing than key forward as he was quite slight and they were stacked for KP talent. Has shown serious signs as a forward, high character type it seems too.

Doesn’t seem like the homesick type but would be worth the attempt to lure him back with the greater opportunity for playing time.

Xavier O’Halloran interest anyone? Just not getting into GWS midfield but has played a variety of roles, has a big body, great athlete and a real leadership type. Inconsistent kick is my knock on him. A bit like a Tucker type recruit. Honestly might be able to pick him up as a DFA come end of year.

But yeah for that wing/mid/utility pick up James Jordon would be my preferred option, as many others have mentioned.

Tom Highmore a defender option not getting a game at Saints, good mark and kick, decent defender, 192cm I believe, the prototype, not getting into strong st defence at the moment as he plays a similar way to Wilkie (just worse).

I wonder what's going on with Xavier Duursma at Port.

Watched him in preseason and his running capacity looked first class. Very tidy disposal.

Last week he gets subbed out (why would you sub out your best runner???) and this week he plays a great game but only gets the 1 coaches vote. Something isn't right there.

I think a change of scene would do him well but the most likely outcome is Hinkley gets the boot and he gets another chance under a different coach.

Jordan strikes me as one of those blokes that looks a million bucks in a good side but looks bog average in a weaker side.

Lmao. There is no way he would head to SA but hypothetically, an exact reason why they should have played it more chivalrous after the JHF trade
