I think we need to do both to be honest.

Draft a developing key back and bring in someone that can fill a role for the next 2 to 4 years.
We pretty much have to do this with a key forward as well, bring in one to hold the fort for two years, take the number 1 and let Larkey off the leash a bit.
And recruit one, Chomp will probably make me look silly by saying it in two years thou.

s**t comment. Why not list all the other busts in the draft not the three late picks that have come on? No mention of Eddie Ford at 55?

Looking like a crap draft anyway. WP, Powell and Ford looks a good haul given how some others have faired.
Hmmmm. Pretty aggressive reply there. Really required?
My point was there was plenty of big blokes we could have taken and why did we go more 180-ish players. Luff with his SuperCoach rubbish.
We are crying out for big blokes on the list.
Of course Eddie has come on, he's over 190 for a start.
But yeah, righto, good chat.

Yeah it was a shit comment. Needlessly negative on the recruiting. Left out Ford. It was required.

Maybe we just didn't rate the talls? Hardly been proven wrong.

From the Herald Sun:

"So what can the Blues do? Do they say to North Melbourne or St Kilda – here, take our No. 6 pick plus Williams and we will use the $800,000 saved to sign players who can help win the 2024 flag?"
Sign me up every day of the week..
I’d cop 3 years of Zac Williams for a top ten pick.

Yes please.

Buying cap space really needs to be incorporated into trading rules ASAP, it's one of the biggest trading mechanisms of the NBA and NFL, it really is going to be a equalisation method for bottom 8 clubs to gain quick traction on the top 8 clubs.

We really should be able to buy up to say $3m in cap space in the next 2 seasons for say Carlton's current R1 and F1 pick.

I'm sure it would progress pretty quickly into $/draft points and $/per pick ranking so it's nice and simple.

No reason we shouldn't be able to go to GC and buy an early second rounder for $400k in 2024 cap space.

The entire Bowes thing is completely unneeded and almost unsavoury tbh. Every man and their Dog knew Geelong only recruited him for the pick.

I've come around to this idea as long as they have some parameters around it.

We get to perpetuate Carlton’s self destructive delusions, book ourselves front row seats for the glorious fallout, AND get pick 6? Where do I sign?

What if they sign McKay for stupid money?

Do we get pick's 3 and 6?
Jack Nicholson Yes GIF

Essentially swapping McKay for 3, 7 and Zac Williams…

He was one of my favourites but I’ll clean out Mckays locker tonight
That would be insane. We'd go to the draft with 2, 3, 7 and get Williams. Can you imagine how mental the rest of the comp would be at that?

Imagine me having an opinion that doesn't match up with yours. We didn't take Ford before the 2 big blokes I mentioned.
I think it was a mistake to take 4 blokes all 180-ish, Phoenix under that, in same draft. And it's come back to bite us.

Under that scenario, based on the current ladder, the top 10 would be

1 - WCE
2 - North
3 - North
4 - Hawks
5 - GWS
6 - GWS
7 - North
8 - GC
9 - Syd
10 - Geelong

Trade 3 and 7 for 1, get Watson and Reid and whoever is available at Port's pick.
Make it happen Euge.

And another pick in the first round. LOL. Those four, Williams and two third rounders plus trades. We could delist all the whipping boys at once if that happened.
