Is Ned McHenry a better player than Jordan Gallucci?

Jordan pick 15, Ned pick 16

I reckon timing was very unlucky for Jordan, came into our team when Pyke was going for continuity and seniority. Much easier for Ned to get in during a rebuild
I know for some reason I am an outlier, but I never saw anything from Gallicci that made me think AFL Footballer, where as there are a lot of things Ned does that I do like, it would be nice for him to kick a few more goals but there are a lot of things he does well. I know we, as a forum need a whipping boy, and it seems that a lot have settled on Ned, but I see him do more right than wrong, he has a tendency to place himself at the right spot at the right time over and over again and never gets any kudos for it, and his field disposal is far from our worst. So my answer is Ned is way in front of the Gooch.

I dont know how they judge speed but i never thought he was quick - just average - and IMO, lack of speed has been a major problem for many years.
gallucci was a 4 foot 10 fast mid (he was fast). his neck made him measure in at 6 foot 2 but he was actually 4 10... so he was unable to compete at this level

The last 2 I like

Stephens - not a huge fan
I'd absolutely take Hollands and Himmelburg first if they were available, but there is every chance AFL help those two clubs in roundabout ways to ensure they stay..

Stephens may even be looking at Victoria given he isn't really a fully fledged south Australian. Who knows.
But I think if you watch him in 2023 he is building into a nice player.

Ned - More resilient

Galluci far more talented player , could easily be playing AFL still now if he was more resilient

I think he’s pretty happy at the swans , he will stay there IMO

Stephens will be solid, I can’t see him ever being a stand-out outside mid though. A bit meh. Someone like NWM could be, with his class and poise, if we target an outside mid he’d be my preference

Volbeat. wasn't even around these parts at the time and his info is hardly at the level of TAFKATMS

Phil Bunn is on the record...PUBLICALLY and he was our West Australian recruiter at the time which you should be aware of as he's the guy that spotted that bloke you were/are the number one fanboi of Mitchy boi. 🤣😂🤣😂
Sanders surely has a life size cut out of Phil Bunn in his house next to Mitch’s barely worn Carlton guernsey

Yep I feel like we have guys on our list at least as good as Stephen’s whereas NVM would be a nice get for a specialised wing / half back role

On the Gallucci front....he had alot of off field issues that are not known to the general public.

That's 100% facts as I've seen it with my own eyes.

It is my opinion not fact. That the club knew about it and that was a factor in letting him go.

I always thought the same. I think there are some test floating around that rated him highly athletically.

But he never past the speed eye test for me, I don't recall him burning anyone off or chasing anyone down.

He had some bigger on field issues, in that he wasn't actually any good at football.

He still got gifted plenty more games than he deserved. The fact that he wasn't picked up by another side and still didn't light it up in the lower leagues suggests we made the correct decision. Absolutely delusional if you think he was given more time on a list he would've made it.

Agreed, galluci had talent but didn't have the desire to work hard. McHenry has grit and determination and huge work ethic just a shame his skills aren't up to par. He can hit a nice F50 entry and lowers the eyes more than most but the majority of his disposals aren't all that great, goal kicking is woeful, hoping this preseason he works on being able to snap from more than 20m out

My want list..

e. hollands.. WANT…but it ain’t happening next year… you’d think the suns won’t let him go given he’ll still be contracted. maybe if we offered them our 2023 1st and 2024 1st which I’d be keen on as long as a 2nd came back... but aim at him big time for 2024.

redman
himmelburg

and dangle a nice carrot in front of young Wanganeen-Milera. That lad just oozes class. And there were rumours he wants to come home.. I think they’re were just BF ones, but I’ll take ‘em!.

I think you might want to wait for him do a bit more before offering that sort of package

He looks a silky player on the outside, so he could fit in very nicely if he keeps developing.

Reckon Ross might do some really good things with him

With all this talk of Metric System and Mitchy Bois, I thought we must have been talking about Mitch Grigg ..

Nah I'm thinking specifically Gallucci vs McHenry. Same draft pick, played mostly the same position (forward/half forward)

Jones has played all over the park, an opportunity we've never afforded the other two

Statistics suggest we might have been been better off keeping Gallucci and using the McHenry pick on someone else (or trading it)

Gallucci was scoring more, had more score involvements, was getting more inside 50s and more meters gained

IMHO Galluci has significantly more talent than McHenry. His 2018 season was better than anything that McHenry’s done. Ned obviously has more dedication and team spirit.

McHenry remains one of half a dozen list cloggers.
