Wow can't agree with this about Max at all. Have never seen a big man like Max be so agile below his knees. In our new game plan, we needed forwards to be able to put on elite pressure if they don’t mark the ball.. That’s why Owens is excelling in this role because he is quick and great at throwing his weight around.. Max can be bit of a liability when the ball hits the deck which then ask the other forwards to work harder to compensate, having 2 kings just exacerbates the problem. I for one also likes the romanticism of 2 brothers playing for us.. but the hit to salary cap (assume 800k+), draft capital (assume 2 first rounders) and practically from game plan point of view, it doesn’t add up as well.
He is the best kick in the team, this is a statistical fact. He is also playing good football. Yet people still want to pot him.Obviously mids but if there is a nice KPD around our pick I wouldn't be unhappy.
Dougal would have to be the easiest KPP on our list to replace and upgrade without costing us a fortune.

Even Reiwoldt had 3 opposition players hanging off him for alot of the time.If Max can run like Roo could or even get close to it he'd be the best player in the comp

Also re Fyfe, we already have a bloke playing like peak Fyfe, Mason Wood.

First one to be potted. And certainly IS potted by many on here. He is not Rance or SoS, but is a good backman fulfilling a role in a backline 1st in the league.No-one pots him, they critique his game on a forum. Players like Acres, Dunstan and plenty of others have had the same treatment. I don't get why he's off limits. That said I haven't even seen much lately. He had a few heart in the mouth moments again against the Suns but he just looks a bit awkward at times more than being a liability. He's started marking rather than going the punch which has improved his game no end along with less kick in duties. Probably also less exposed due to a team defence as well.
It's possibly a bit of a misleading list because as a tall back you are releasing the ball out to a player who has spread for you. Backs are over represented because of that. Kicking from a congested midfield under pressure or on the run make it a much higher level of difficulty.
Darragh Joyce is actually still on 100% disposal efficiency this season and I think Howard has dropped to about 14th now. Still pretty good but part of that is not biting too much off.
He tends to look a bit awkward with arms and legs flaying everywhere that can draw free kicks against. A bit like Dustin Fletcher he has a look of clumsiness eg the knees to old mate on the ground last week, which I loved. Despite his high disposal efficiency I’m loving the fact he doesn’t take many kick outs which looks to be a deliberate change in tact since RTB has come in.No-one pots him, they critique his game on a forum. He’s going to love having someone like Caminiti taking some of the attention off him too.Wow can't agree with this about Max at all. Have never seen a big man like Max be so agile below his knees.
He is nowhere near a liability when it hits the ground.
Can't talk for Ben, haven't seen enough of him, but Max is as agile with the ball.on the deck as any player in the league

I don't even like Howard that much, does at least once clanger a game that looks bad, but he sure gets it for the player who is literally the best kick in the team and 10th best in the league.
So getting back to the OP, which key back can we easily get who is top ten in the league in kicking effective disposal and can be instrumental in the best backline in the league?

Back to the gardening mate.So I been doing the gardening for 3 days and I've been stewing on this.
I think we should make a play for Nat fyfe.
2 year deal. Where we expect to get 12 months from him.
Next year Steele is 28. Crouch 30. Ross 31. Wood is 31.
Nat fyfe right now looks an ageing shell of himself with recurring injury issues.
But here's the thing. Freo have an appalling injury history especially in treating them. Colin Young has been very vocal of this, where basic things have been missed.
I think we can get his body right and manage him. He gives us another big body mid to go with Steele. Someone who can chop in and out of the fwd line. Perhaps with owens, poo and or wood. Even Gresham.
He's a very good trainer and knows Ross. He'd be another excellent example for the younger guys. He has damage factor fwd of center. Has aerial presence around the ground.
We won't get fyfe in his prime but we will get a very serious footballer who will take the focus off guys like owens.
Also don't get seduced by the broken down fyfe who looks in survival mode who has a big difference of opinion with his senior coach.
He'd cost similar to Sam Mitchell to wce. Or hodge to Brisbane. Aka * all.
Given the mature nature of our midfield and the green shoots we've seen from the kids. I don't think we need a huge signing here we just need to support what we've got and try bring knowledge in. Keep rising the training standards.
We also take a piece off the table at freo who make no mistake will be back to finals next year with another soft draw.
So as I said the OP said he was easily replaced, as he is doing his job we don't need to spend big on DeKoning or Mckay, why would someone blithely post he is easily replaced when it is patently obvious he isn't?I've never been obsessed with disposal efficiency like some. He's earning his keep this year and I think he's going to mean we don't need to chase McKay to be honest. I'm just saying he's not off limits. He was prone to doing some really dumb acts and got canned for it. Same as how they complain about Gresham, Byrnes, Butler or any of the others that have flaws in their game when they make mistakes.
It's not like he's a forum whipping boy. I've hardly noticed anything said about him since the preseason good or bad.
Yup, and FFS stop eating the red berriesBack to the gardening mate.

Yeah he's going alright, I still think he's the easiest KPP in our best 22 to upgrade. He is the best kick in the team, this is a statistical fact. He is also playing good football. Yet people still want to pot him.

Helps he doesn't kick out from points. I reckon he is another benefiting from Lyon.I thought he said easiest at low cost. Right now I don't think that's right but think it looked like if we chased McKay he'd be the only one that you could imagine coming out. Anyway, I don't think too many are getting stuck into him. Especially since we've been flying.
With who?Yeah he's going alright, I still think he's the easiest KPP in our best 22 to upgrade.

You wouldn't you'd have them in the same sideGetting Fyfe would be close to the worst possible list management decision imaginable. Imagine playing that decrepit ahead of developing the next Mitch Owens or Pou in the forward line.
I don't have a list of OOC KPDs on me atm but my point still stands, would cost us mega dollars and picks to find upgrades on Marshall or King.
Cleared all this stuff to burn and then a cold front has come in... no more burning fmd.Back to the gardening mate.
Some blokes there I really like. From the VFL on the weekend, Jeremy Sharp is one. He was looking the goods two seasons ago and has an unbelievable tank but fell out of favour. He would absolutely love to play under Ross you'd think.
Alex Davies I like also (and Half Japanese! Could make the club the official club of Japan). Bodhi Uwland will be good.
Special mention to Elijah Hollands. Looked ordinary on the weekend but could be Stocker 2.0 in a new environment.
I think work rate has been a fair knock on max.
Repeat leads. Up and back running etc.
He was really working hard up until the shoulder.
If Lyon can evolve Max’s game so that there is a higher work rate to his jumping game. We will have a “unicorn” on our hands.
Smokey for the Coleman?
