Ross isn’t getting any younger.
Billings isn’t a midfielder.
Steele is becoming injury-prone.
Jones can’t get on the park.
Bytel can’t stay on it.
Gresham may leave in FA.
Byrnes was written off until very recently.
Stocker has played four games with us, that’s it.
That’s eight already.
You don’t stop improving in the middle… that’s how you end up with the Richo years…
I’ve been screaming out for more mids for years but if that is all we focus on taking we just end up with holes elsewhere.Exactly. Mids, mids and more mids.
Surely we make the most of the draft this year and try and snag Parish as a free agent. Or even Matt Crouch or someone who can add depth to our list of mids. If Ben is keen in 2024 you move mountains to get him. I will be filthy if he's running around in another Melbourne club's coloursSpot on
We are in no position to trade away any low picks for at least the next 2-3 years
The only way to get Ben would be to cobble together a couple of first rnd picks somehow through trading. Just can’t see how it can happen. Ben made his choice a few years back, he will most likely play for tigers, pies etc

RFA means a bidding war with Essendon, that's a potential issue.
If James Jordan isn't signed I think he would be an excellent addition.

Given Witts turns 31 this year, Gold Coast would be mad to let Moyle go.I heard over the weekend that 6 clubs are after Ned Moyle from the golf coast. He was good against us, I hope we are one of the teams. I reckon he will be elite
There goes the dream of getting a banged up, injury prone former star... wait that feels familiar?Fyfe only speaking to Freo. Won't talk to any other club.
Thank God. Cooked and would take the spot of a young player.
He can stay where he is.

I don't mind adding some veteran experience as depth but surely there are better options out there.Crouch is ideal, free and is already a depth sub if we want to move him out for a kid to get opportunity.
I’ve been screaming out for more mids for years but if that is all we focus on taking we just end up with holes elsewhere.
We’ve taken 5 mids in the last two drafts (if you include NWM as a wingman) so it wouldn’t make sense to just grab mids in this draft.
Membrey is almost 29, Hayes we don’t know how he will come back, Caminiti has had a promising start but so did Sharman
Sharman looks less likely than likely to get another contract and there were always big question marks around Keeler (which is why the Crows didn’t take him as a free hit)
I think we also need to look at bringing in another small forward or two and another key defender

I don't think Matt Crouch would be able to apply the defensive pressure that RTB demands anyway.
As long as they’re not mids that are incapable of playing other positions. No use having a dozen Brad Crouch’s on the list.Yeah I just don’t care about any of those other positions. You can win a flag with mediocre forwards or backs but not with a mediocre midfield.
And anyway, you can always turn a mid into a small forward/back. And talls can come from lots of different places, drafting them is a pretty low-percentage option.
Take mids with good picks and you won’t go too far wrong.
Wouldn't stress on Keeler, apparently has a bigger ceiling than Mattaes and coaches putting in a mountain of work with him to speed up that process.I’ve been screaming out for more mids for years but if that is all we focus on taking we just end up with holes elsewhere.

I’m not stressing about him. I was keen to take him earlier in the draft.Wouldn't stress on Keeler, apparently has a bigger ceiling than Mattaes and coaches putting in a mountain of work with him to speed up that process.

Was a figure of speech.I’m not stressing about him. I was keen to take him earlier in the draft.
But at the same time I doubt we’d be pinning all our hopes on him making it.
It’s a bit of a myth this
Occasionally you will see sides win a flag with a mediocre back line or forward line, but we have also seen them one with mediocre midfields (West Coast the most recent example)
Most of the time though a premiership side will have quality all around the ground.
Cats had a quality back line as well as Cameron/Hawkins forward
Richmond won a flag with just Riewoldt and then went out and got Lynch. They also had an amazing back line.
Pretty sure I’ve had this discussion with you before when you claimed you could be a recruiter because none of them were very smart.
I’d be surprised if we only drafted and recruited mids in the next couple of years. Not when we’ve just taken 5 over 2 years.
