Exactly- membrey , Gresham have some value , if they have someone in mind to replace Howard - do it . Ross won’t get us anything so might as well keep him , we needs more mids not less . Could we trade battle ? Not sure .I'm interested to know who people would trade to improve our hand in the draft and trade arena's this off-season? There's a lot of talk about who should be chopped, but if we want to make step changes to the quality of our list we need to offer up a player/players with real value on the market.
Everyone keeps focusing on who we should jettison, but keep in mind, if they are serious about improving the list deficiencies we need to offer something of value. I know the list management team already have a plan, but what do us plebs think?
It's got to be someone we either already have cover for, or we have kids developing that will provide cover for in the medium term.
Not sure how you’d know that and I doubt it.We've never been proactive always late to the party
I think that with Wood, it was more that he was given a role that suited his strengths.
Didn't North always use him as a forward?

James harmes is dropped for the dees game. He would probably be a walk up start in our midfield. Good mates with battle I think as well
An ITK posted he wanted to come to usJames harmes is dropped for the dees game. He would probably be a walk up start in our midfield. Good mates with battle I think as well
Gresham = 2nd round compensationWell apart from Gresham and Clark I don't think that's it's a sound plan selling off your better players. Selling your blue chip stocks to by tattslotto tickets isn't a solid business model. Howard is probably one we could look at but if we don't replace him we look thin down back.
Hawthorn were tracking for bottom 4 that year and got moving late. We could have had a pick around there with luck.I know we all know he's a star, but watching norf v dons game - I would give one of me plums to get LDU in our team.
Farrrk me he's a jet. Burst pace, high footy IQ, makes the right choices, contested weapon and has actual good skills. Hits bullet passes by hand and foot to teammates.
Would be bloody nice.
Flanders is such a jet. A midfield core of Owens, Phillipou and Flanders would really be something to build around.
Name the marquee game Geelong plays in again?
It's laughable you think a player that has a finite career would take unders so they could play in the ANZAC eve game, must be why North keep getting the big trades done because they have the Good Friday game.
And 100k members is a draw because it doesn't impact how much they get paid, heave much more scrutiny and pressure on them, yep, who wouldn't wa t to take less money for that pleasure?
Dougle Howard: try and get something back before he is delistedExactly- membrey , Gresham have some value , if they have someone in mind to replace Howard - do it . Ross won’t get us anything so might as well keep him , we needs more mids not less . Could we trade battle ? Not sure .
Gresham = 2nd round compensation
Membrey = late 2nd round
Billings = 3rd round
Jack Bytel = 4th round
Clark = 2nd round
Howard = 2nd round
Zac Jones = 3rd round
That’s four 2nd round, two third round, and a 4th. Plus our own set of draft picks this year and next.
Plenty of flexibility to package up for early picks, or trade.
If we really want to be aggressive, can trade Marshall for a first round.

He’s not getting delisted.Dougle Howard: try and get something back before he is delisted
He's the one I would pick. The one with some real value, we have two very likely prospects already on the list and we can trade a lower pick for a senior journey-man ruck to fill the gap for a year or two. If we could do a deal with GCS that see us upgrade a second rounder we could add some genuine top end draft talent to to the mids and trade in the likes of Flanders and Henry and whomever else that are ready to go now. A premium ruckman is useless to us with our special needs midfield.........If we really want to be aggressive, can trade Marshall for a first round.

Not sure what is making people assume Riewoldt's sons are just going to be starsI don’t like any of the convoluted rules that compromise the draft but we got Owens and Windhager cheaply, so as far as academies go we’re not the unluckiest club. But I do worry that Riewoldt’s boys will end up elsewhere due to a rule change the night before the draft in which James goes at pick 1.

Membrey wont have a great deal of value at his age unfortunately.Exactly- membrey , Gresham have some value , if they have someone in mind to replace Howard - do it . Ross won’t get us anything so might as well keep him , we needs more mids not less . Could we trade battle ? Not sure .
Oh they will be….Not sure what is making people assume Riewoldt's sons are just going to be stars![]()
However trading him gets us to offload more salary and he could easily help in securing a trade for a player.Membrey wont have a great deal of value at his age unfortunately.
We are going to need Owens to be playing a lot more midfield if we are ever going to improve.However trading him gets us to offload more salary and he could easily help in securing a trade for a player.
However he is contracted and he would want to leave so it all depends how he feels at the club.
The next 3 games are going to be important for him to prove his value to the club , because we now have players who can fill his role as we saw Owens doing it very well.
I hoping he has a few outstanding games and gets us into the finals , because we know when he is at his best he is a very good player.
