what did he say?
He's trying to get his act together. He went to rehab to get out of jail and get bail. Said he previously didn't have the courage to
do rehab so it was a bit of a silver lining. Has been back to the club and reconnecting with people in past year. Legal stuff coming
up next year. Said he wasn't prepared for life after football as why he got into drugs. Sounded semi OK. I still think he will be getting
a custodial sentence. You never know though.

“Promising St Kilda forward, Matthew Allison, is rumoured to be a player of interest for North Melbourne. Family ties plus the possibility of greater opportunities are believed to be the motivation behind the discussions between the club and the player’s manager. It is believed that North’s early third round pick would satisfy the Saints should Allison decide on a move.”

what did he say?
Great interview. Talked about his substance abuse and how he got right into it after football because the structure of a football club was gone and he didn't have the tools to organise his days. Fell into more and more use until addicted.

Was ironically grateful to be sent to jail as he didn't have the courage to face his addiction and the only way to get out of jail was to go to rehab.
Now sober.
Enjoying the little things in life, going to the football, playing a bit of golf, reconnecting with friends and family.

Still hurdles to overcome, the legal side comes up early next year. Wanted to tell his story in the hope that it may help others within and outside of football.
Pretty positive.

As an aside, we always hear about the judicial system and the tabloids bang on about leaniency etc, but this judge gave Fisher the opportunity to rehab, and he seems to have taken it and is rebuilding his life.

Hope he continues to recover.

thanks for sharing!

really hope he gets it altogether especially if he can do that and stay out of prison. will save everyone $$$.

I think they were there, but escalated into a full on addiction after football.

that makes sense. reason i raised it is because i remember his family alluding to the saints really helping to get his life back on track so i assumed he had some real challenged whilst at the club. sucks it spiralled for him.

Bomber Thomas didn't get any jail time and he had over 480 ecstasy pills and a large amount of ice.

Hope fisher has a good lawyer.

North are very generous with that offer. Interesting, another club has Alison on their radar and they rate him internally. I wouldn’t have picked that. Good on the player if he seeks a better opportunity elsewhere. There is simply no forward position available at the Saints.

Remember? all the talk in the pre-season that he was going to replace King, then got injured.

Allison has skills and attributes, no question. Does he find enough of the footy? How much upside is there? They are my question marks. He didn’t look like cracking into the senior side once he returned to playing footy in the second half of the year. Camaniti and Sharman have pushed well ahead in my opinion.

If North have an offer then he is definitely within his rights to explore. He might feel he could crack their senior side next year.

He is contracted for the Saints next year? That would be an easy trade to complete, if Allision does indeed decide to move and explore a different club.

Could be the best thing for all involved.
