Does it matter though? We need better players on every line so best not to obsess on it surely.

We are really short of mids though and look like unloading another lot. We need to trade for some if we can't draft them. A star mid in this draft would have been good.

Incredible how few true mids there are in this draft. Only the Saints could be on a roll with drafting then the universe shits a draft out that has nothing we particularly need. It does run a bit deeper than I thought though. Freijah, Delean and Moir all pretty late after some early hype.

Exactly its completely devoid of genuine midfielders after the top 12. The players you mentioned are all very much outside wings/ or small forwrad options. A few sliders I liked at the championships are Clay Hall, Kane McAuliffe and Kade De La Rue but are not players who we could expect to have an immediate impact like top 10 picks.

Because he runs like a park footballer, can't spread, is allergic to the gym & doesn't commit to being a full time professional athlete
It all depends what he is worth - anything less than a high 2nd round draft pick I would keep him for depth and then it's up to him if he wants to go else where for more money.
Same goes with Billings - these guys would be fine for depth.

We have somehow contrived to build a list chock full of both depth players and cherry on the cake players - which is basically a B-grade list.

If we want to change that trajectory, the best option would be to keep the best of the depth and somehow get some kind of value for trading the rest...

Except that will never happen. No one is going to pay jack shit for "the rest of the depth."

So probably the best realistic option is to trade the best of the depth for whatever we can get and keep a few untried players and cross our fingers and one or two vets who can teach a young player the ropes.

Purely on field but we need Tarryn Thomas fkkkk. Stav said the boss likes him

Nice to wish for, but the boring stuff like environment and development is still more important. We've been unbelievably lucky the last 2 drafts and looks like Toce might just be a giant leprechaun. On form they'll find us a good player at whatever pick and if the draft market is anything like last year opportunity abounds.

Toce isn't a leprechaun. He's just a competent talent spotter. We have been conditioned to accept poor drafting for so long that we feel like lottery winners when someone can do their job.

Not only throw the chequebook at Flanders, but pay him what it costs to keep him talent spotting and recruiting at Moorabbin for years to come. Already has a decent record.
