Injuries are massive - stating the obvious but you can carry say 5 injuries in the 1s as they could be anything from your best player to a borderline 22. But if the 1s have 5 out, the ressies have their five best players out (or close enough) as only the best will be picked as replacements…Thanks for the reply. I suppose the AFL teams are also just some key injuries away from being uncompetitive. Sydney used to very competitive in the NEAFL but I suppose there is not enough talent to share with the Giants.
I was just surprised how well the Lions have gone and on the average I think the games have been more competitive. Especially compared to our last year in the NEAFL when we won nearly every game including the GF by over 10 goals.
You could always wait for five years, the 3 can easily become an 8 if we win itAlready got mine. Right on my face. Hope we win otherwise I'll look kinda silly.

Me too, it will be right next to my 2013 NAB cup Champions and 2018 AFLX Champions tattoos.I cant wait to get my VFL Premiers 2023 tattoo.
Brisbane only have 2 injuries to main list Rich and Carter Michael who will probably both be back next week.Injuries are massive - stating the obvious but you can carry say 5 injuries in the 1s as they could be anything from your best player to a borderline 22. yeap.Remember when we wondered about how the standard of the NEAFL compared to the VFL? It has become evident that many of the VFL clubs are very, very average.
Suns VFL team had 7 academy kids in it on the weekend. And that didn’t include their best 3, who played for the Australia U18 academy team versus Carlton’s VFL side.Brisbane only have 2 injuries to main list Rich and Carter Michael who will probably both be back next week.
Barring no other injuries 2 top up players would have to miss out ?
No other club anywhere near that sort of compliment of playing list at their disposal.
So a few injuries and Lions could be tested by Suns, Casey, Southport, Werribee etc for sure.
Don’t think they are anywhere near over the line yet until you get to finals and see the health of your list.
I am surprised that some people on the main board think that GC have no future. I think that they are slowly stabilising the club and will only get more competitive from here.Suns VFL team had 7 academy kids in it on the weekend. Highlights their academy depth, when they’re top of the table and their top up players are academy kids and not mature bodies like other VFL atop ups.
Read over the weekend that the AFL has been subsiding the Suns academy since 2018, to the tune of $400k per year.
Harry Arnold getting some recognition >
Confidence From Lessons Outside the Classroom Key for Mr Arnold
Key defender Harry Arnold is relishing his role as the main man in defence of an undefeated Brisbane Lions VFL side.
As a tall key backman, Arnold often takes the best forward each week and has kept his opponents quiet contributing nicely to the Lions’ unbeaten start to the year.
His consistent form has come off the back of some tough preseason training matchups against the experience and class of AFL teammates Eric Hipwood and Joe Daniher.
Too late, scuttlebutt from an informed poster on the draft/trade board is he will be picked up in the mid season draft.Got to keep it quiet
I guess it happens. Joyce looks decent cover to me and i get why we took him. Would be a shame though as Gardiner suddenly looking pretty shaky and Lester no spring chookToo late, scuttlebutt from an informed poster on the draft/trade board is he will be picked up in the mid season draft.![]()

“It is not just me versus my opponent, it’s a whole defensive group and it seems to be working."
I thought Buzza was a better option than Arnold at the start of the season, though concerned about his pace. He certainly continues to improve slowly in terms of mobility. However I now slightly prefer Arnold.I like Buzza's better form this year.
He just looks more polished and a bit fitter. Maybe he has lost a bit of weight.
Probably prefer him over Arnold TBH. Taller, heavier and also a more versatile player.
See how the remainder of the year pans out.
Packing his bags for Sydney already.Too late, scuttlebutt from an informed poster on the draft/trade board is he will be picked up in the mid season draft.![]()
Let's hope it's a 6 month deal and the homesickness starts
Not sure Gardiner would like that too much.If we're very keen on him, I wonder if we consider putting Gardiner on the LTI and focus on getting his body right for next year?
