Werribee vs Lions on Saturday at midday. Wonder who will play given the AFL team is not playing?
Wouldn’t surprise me with Lohman getting hurt on weekend they play safe card and keep Lyon and Fort at home and play in seniors simulation on weekend and maybe Prior or another one held back.

Not in business to win a VFL Flag so they will take no risks I reckon, but could be a mile off.

Maybe, but we don't have a "supersub" and many of the bester Lions VFL players would be good subs.

The word is that the seniors' Preliminary Final will be scheduled for twilight Saturday week, starting what, 4.30? I have an uneasy feeling that if the Suns and Lions reserves both win their VFL prelims, and the VFL GF is played at Springers, it might be difficult to get to both games without leaving the VFL early.

Maybe we could convince someone to have the VFL GF as a curtain-raiser at the Gabba? I'd be there for sure.

VFL's on Sunday

OKAY RESSIES WATCHERS - perhaps MOB - reading your valuable comments is this how we sum up our ready to go players from the 2s should we get an injury?

INSIDE MID - Lyons first, Tunstill second
RUCK Fort
TALL FORWARD Fort or Fullarton? (Let's assume Gunston is a separate conversation)
TALL BACK Gardiner first. Is it him even if Payne or Harris go down? Seems Joyce is on the nose with a few. And we don't have any monster forward lines to contend with any more.
SMALL BACK Prior first cab off the rank? Rich maybe if Kiddy is out? Brain some sort of smokey or is that too meteoric a rise?
SMALL FORWARD Cockatoo?
WING Harry Sharp

Obviously in some circumstances we would bring in a player and shuffle positions, eg if Linc went down Sharp might play wing and Ah Chee full time forward line.

Sunday v GC slightly annoying given shorter break ahead of our Friday night game. I guess we can pull players out at 3/4 time but that would be pretty bad do to if the game is close given it's a prelim. I guess we could do something like sub Fort off at 3/4 time (we seem to have an abundance of ruckmen in the side) and play Lyons forward line for most of the second half.

Inside Mid- Lyons if Neale or Dunkley go down. If another Tunstill.
Ruck- Fort.
Tall Fwd- Fullarton.
Tall back- Joyce first crack for Andrews or Payne, IIRC Joyce played in the wins against the Pies and Dees early in the year, might be the type of player that lifts when he has better players around him. Fullarton also trialled down back, not sure how he went. Gardiner more a Lester replacement.
Small back- Brain has been great since going back in the VFL, not Richy too slow now.
Small fwd- Cockatoo or Answerth if we need a high intensity/pressure fwd.
Wing- Yes Harry Sharp.

I liked Joyce when he was playing 1s. Others seem to think he has stagnated in the 2s.

Answerth definitely out for the year sadly

Am I MOB? (🤔 Morbius O'Brain?)

I haven't got a lot to add to others' thoughts, except to say that if we need to bring in a small defender we might have a difficult decision to make. Prior would most likely be first choice, but I wouldn't discount Brain. Our defence has been under pressure since it lost Lester and Arnold, but in recent weeks Brain has been a key factor in our ability to hold Casey and Williamstown to beatable totals. If he continues on this trajectory he could overtake Prior quite soon.

Interesting thanks. Prior in my view has played 2 really good 1s games but seems to have stagnated this year after the pies game.

And Yes you are MOB. Well not really i had a moment. But Morbius O’Brain is pretty good!

Tall forward - maybe H Smith
Small back, defensive mid - I’d like to see Sharp trialled in these roles. Outside coverage of ground really good, but I don’t know if his disposal/decision making will ever be up to it. He is a tough little bloke and seems to be able to find the ball in congestion. Has the tank to keep up with the fasted small forward/hardest running mid.
tall backs - happy enough with Gardiner and Joyce (in that order) as back up. Joyce still makes errors due to inexperience but all footballers make mistakes
