It's finally happened the A-Leagues wet dream come true a Derby Grand Final! A Melbourne Derby Grand Final between Melbourne City V Melbourne Victory. Two teams that have been solid and inconsistent throughout the season but none the less deserved Grand Finalist. City having to cruse through their Semi Final against Western United and Victory who unexpectedly won against all odds in New Zealand against Premiers Auckland FC. City through to their 5th Grand Final in 6 seasons and Victory into back to back Grand finals and a record 8th in 20 seasons. both have recently lost Grand Finals so an interesting contest awaits.

Date: 31st May 2025
Time: 7:40pm EST
Venue: AAMI Park, Melbourne
Broadcast: Channel 10, 10 HD, 10 Bold
Streaming: 10 Play, Paramount Plus

Prediction: This is a hard one its a derby so anything can happen as it stands Victory have had the upper hand over City the last couple of seasons. City have been in very good form leading up to and during this finals series but so have Victory winning twice on the road to get to the Grand Final. Its a hard one so I'm predicting this one to go all the way 1-1 after regular time and extra time Victory to finally win a Grand Final on Penalty Shootouts. :grimacing:

Usually I try to watch the a league GF. Gonna give it a hard miss this year, can't feel happy for or inspired by either of these two clubs, I hate them both that much.

Should be a good atmosphere and lots of ruckus around the ground on the day though.

I'm intrigued to see how hot a ticket this is this week. A Derby GF should be box office, but the A-League has never been more off the public radar in it's 20 year history than it is now.

The Victory/Smurfs GF at Swan St is the benchmark for what I think a grand final should look like (as opposed to a soulless stadium), if we can get anywhere close to that it'll hopefully create some momentum again. This tv deal hurts though man.

The march pre the Auckland game was good but I would expect the numbers to be doubled this week. Will be proper rocking.

The atmosphere is ALWAYS better when the terrace is pumping.

As for the match it will be tough as our home form has not been great. But on the flip side maybe we are due for a proper home Performance.

Its not in a great position in the public view, but absolutely has been in a worse position multiple times over the past 20 years.

They wont sell out the game but will get around 20k. The Melbourne derby always tends to get a crowd around the 15k mark.

Unfortunately the tv deal is the only one they could get at the time. Could be better, could be alot worse.
The main problem with the public knowledge is the broader sports media that has condensend since covid and will rant about the afl and nrl, and cricket but only if its in summer and not any other sport that is going on, or if they do it will be for 1 minute.

It will sell out. Big feeling about this game all around.

It will be a sellout! If you can't sellout a derby Grand Final at AAMI Park than the league is in even bigger hole than we all thought it's in.

Fair effort to keep making it back, important to make the ledger 2-3.

Been really under the radar with the focus on Auckland. Battling injuries for big chunks but the academy kids have had some great moments to keep us rolling mid year.

Those North Terrace ****wits are ending their boycott for this.

Of course they are 😂

They throw the toys out over a rainbow but conveniently end their boycott for a Grand Final

Lucky enough to get in at 10.01. (I logged into Ticketek from 9am) Got offered row Y seats. I really don’t get this system.
Just got tickets now in row Z in the City fans area. A few mates coming along who haven't been for a few months now, everyone's coming out for this. Absolutely pumped.
