Assume it’s about Manning complaining about the ref who’s given them four reds this season. Looked like a penalty to me, defender tackled Moore and was last defender
Argument I guess would be double jeopardy?

But a managed frustrated about a tie-changing decision is hardly new and didn't think it was worthy of that response.

Nah there’s a difference between disagreeing with a decision and what he’s said there.

That’s without taking in to account the ref got the decision spot on.

Not a bad time for Sunderland to finally beat Coventry (first since 2008 I think).
But gee looking at the quality in both playoff games, can’t help but think whoever wins promotion will come back down.

Did he? Thought double jeopardy applied.

But I guess I meant managers moan about ref's all the time just seemed a bit aggressive to Manning from moomba.

Double jeopardy only applies if you’re making a legitimate play at the ball. I don’t think a run down AFL tackle is legitimate.

I get the frustration, but I’m not a fan of managers calling out refs like that and saying they’re not fit to do their job.

The hypocrisy is that managers like him and Chris Wilder are happy to slag off the refs but then don't want VAR, which while not perfect a lot of those decisions are open and shut ones that it would fix.

Does he not want VAR?

We gave Halifax a 4-0 spanking. Now we go to York which will be a tougher proposition.
I just checked the final table and they finished 23 points ahead of you! That'll be frustrating for a York fan if they get knocked out by you. Or get knocked out by Southend who were 28 points behind

The play-offs system will always produce anomalies like this. In 2022-23 Notts County finished with 107 points. They only won the final on penalties against Chesterfield who had 23 less points than them. But Bromley could have won it from 7th place, 36 points behind.

You could probably find examples from the Championship, League 1 and League 2 where teams with lower points won the play-offs. But the situation is exacerbated in the National League where there's only two clubs promoted.

Prefer Italian Serie B format. They have playoffs between 3rd to 8th but if third team are 14 points or more ahead of fourth then playoffs are scrapped and third awarded automatic promotion

Southend (6 points lower) beat Rochdale to get into the semis.

York v Oldham (23 points lower)
Forrest Green v Southend (15 points lower)

I don't like the system but we've been on the wrong end of it before, so I won't feel bad if we get through.

What a stupid system where 7th placed Southend get the easier semi!!??

I think the logic is that 4th placed Rochdale should have the advantage over 7th place Southend so would get the easier semi if they win.

The playoffs are a lottery really. After a season where every team plays each other home and away they have a mini knock out competition to decide the 2nd promotion place. It shouldn't come down to a penalty shoot out between teams that were 36 points apart.
