Pick 20 was the only thing of note that was traded out. All the other trades done this trade period were for picks in a similar range or losing a fringe player.

Not gonna lie, it feels fantastic.

Forget Smillie. Richmond are laughing all the way to the bank.

Are they though? Their best 22 is comfortably the worst in the competition. It won't be the most ideal environment for young players to develop. Just look at the young guys at Melbourne 15 years ago and their lack of development.

Richmond also landed pick No.20 from Brisbane in exchange for 32, 42, 43 and 45

I wonder if this trade Richmond told Brisbane they wont pick Ashcroft with pick 1

Richmond fans… this guy is calling you draft tamperers…

Heaven forbid we have a tiny bit of 'Feel Good' in a hard-headed professional sport.
A tiny bit of feel good? You have teams who have won premierships and and been at the elite end getting multiple elite players that other teams that haven't had any success had access to and they are getting them at 20 cents on the dollar.

It has a legitimately bit impact on the comp and that coming down to luck is stupid.

It’s going to be fascinating watching it all play out over the next few years. Studs, or duds? Who the heck knows, but Richmond would back themselves (time will tell if that belief was deluded).

I personally think it is a bad strategy as cutting older players to the bone and entirely focusing on youth never works. The first thing Paul Roos did when he took charge of Melbourne was bring in older player to help the younger ones as he realised Melbourne cut too many older/experienced players and it was hurting their younger players development.

Luck is part of sport and the father/son thing is awesome.

They can smooth out the cost of picks etc but I love the father/son rule

I’ll bow to your superior knowledge on the subject, but I’ll still watch what happens with interest.
