Who they spent a first round pick on recruiting.

They had a pick before Freo.

West Coast ask Freo if they want Allen. Freo say no we want Berry. So West coast ask what they'll offer to move up.

They then have the same chat with us asking us to beat Freo's offer to stay ahead of them.

Freo were never selecting Allen either.

Then what was the point if we didn't get anything back? We were always ahead of Freo

Only makes some sort of sense if we were only ever going to use 3 picks and 50 which became 45 was for a better trade than we got with WCE but it never eventuated.

If we were only going to take 3 picks we probably tried to do a deal with Brisbane for 36+50 for their pick 27 and we got outdone by the Bulldogs who swapped their 35+48 for Brisbane's 27.

Position: Tall forward
Size: 193cm
Clubs in recent days had wondered whether Armstrong would slide this far - he was linked to St Kilda's second pick at one stage - but to get him at 23 is a big result for Richmond.

Surely you see us getting bent over at the trade period and draft. At some point you will have to question why it happens to us, and why other clubs keep benefiting off it and win flags, while we continue to extend our 21 year premiership drought.

Effectively we've said instead of Reid/Allan/Armstrong/etc & 45, we think Berry and 93 is better. It's strange trading.

You’re assuming we were even going to use 45. Wasn’t it announced we were only drafting 3 players and upgrading McEntee.

Berry will be better than Reid/Allan/Armstrong put together (in before future quotes)

I've got no idea about it all. I am happy with picking Berry. That doesn't mean you can't evaluate on the surface what looks like a really strange move.

I got no idea why they extend the first round to like 25-28 or whatever it is. There are 18 teams, pick 18 is the last pick of the first round.

I think they are hoping Benny doesn’t get bid on take him as category b rookie not use the 4th pick and keep a spare pick for 1 of the players playing for our sanfl team like McLennan

Come finals time (if we make it again) people will be complaining how easy our players are monstered by other bigger bodied sides.

That hasn't been announced. We had 4 main list spots, with the last at 45, and 1 rookie, I would suspect we would use pick 45, rather than an extra deep rookie pick that could end up at 30 odd in the rookie draft. Effectively something around a pick 100ish.
