I have told you why I included 2008 as an example of GAJ performing to an unbelievably elite level when things aren't going his team's way.

When a team loses, clearly things haven't gone your team's way, and it is much more difficult for a player to perform in those circumstances.

As we have seen with Dustin Martin's performances in losing finals.

Cripps is 6”5 and because of his range his lane for corralling the ball or sharking it from a tap is probably 2mtr either side of his centre.
He was top 3 for hard ball gets and led C/P’s. I think it’s because his zone for controlling the ball is bigger than most and so few of the tackles laid on him pin his arms. Tackling him doesn’t often stop him passing the ball.
He’s a great player but his physique gives him a natural advantage that Daicos and Neale don’t have.
He also took more Ruck contests than ever before and got more “grab and go” from those than any other Back up Ruck.

He’s a champ and a great player but also a very unusual player that just doesn’t have any natural predators.

Okay, but being 6"5 as a mid who isn't the most natural super athlete isn't exactly to his advantage either. There's many players his size that struggle to even bend over fast enough to pick up a ground ball.

Not sure having physical advantages usually counts against a player anyway

I’m pretty sure he’s always played as a mid or Ruck


Yeah, he has said he’s worked on his speed and good on him, he’s always tried to get better.
I don’t think his size is a disadvantage, I think he’s developed the way he plays to make the most of it.
I can’t really think of another player his height that can play 1 mtr from the ball all game.

Nat Fyfe, was more explosive outve stoppage and has more of a marking game.

I’m can’t think of a RRover like him.

I’m can’t think of a RRover like him.

Yeah he did for sure play as a mid as a youngster, but he was more average sized then, he had a real late ridiculous growth spurt. I remember his first couple of games at AFL level, he looked awkward AF, you could tell what he wanted to to do and his hand skills were always great, but he was practically tripping over his own large frame.

If he didn't have his mental strength and desire to keep improving on all aspects of his game and preparation, he could have perhaps not even made it IMO.

Richmond are just lucky other teams knocked Collingwood out of the finals in their 2019/20 premiership years, otherwise we all know the season outcomes would have been very different...

Brisbane had the best 10 players on the ground, and at half time I had Lohmann best followed by Starcevich.

But Ashcroft and Neale were set to poise in the second half through weight of numbers, and that they did.

I actually would have given my 3 votes to Dunkley - he was immense, with his job on Heeney defining.

There was a bee's dick between the top 6 or 7 on the ground.
