FYI

Will add a 2024 NAB Draft & Trade tracker thread, stickied.

Tag me when we have a confirmed trade/draft and I will update the thread accordingly

I see Davis as a tall wing at the next level. The biggest difference between he and hynes at this point is endurance.
Hynes also tends to get his mark via body work and strength often marking on the chest where as Davis almost always marks the ball at the highest point.
Davis has elite endurance and a horrible ball drop but just kicks goals and covers ground.

I hope we do take him. Then balance for needs with the next two picks. Davis + Freijah is a brilliant wing pairing in time - both tall, body the ball, cover ground and compliment each other with Freijah being defensive and Davis being more attacking

Or we could look to take Shanahan and send Naughton down back. I really like Shanahan. Was great in the Dons VFL stint. I get we are stuffed with talls but competition is a good thing and we can take Gross to round out.
Wouldn't we just play Croft forward if we wanted to do that?

If we could take 29 and get two cracks in the 30s then that would be a win. By the time you get past pick 30 draft boards become radically different and a player that one team wants might only be on the draft radar of two other teams at best.

There's no one I'm enamored with at our upcoming picks expected to be drafted in that range. They are essentially all KPP.

I'd be more than happy to trade one of them to move back a handful of spots and pick up an extra selection next year (which makes the Lions trade reasonably pointless).
I'll hold judgement after that brillent pick last year by Sammy on Freijah, he made a trade with the lions to get another 2nd rounder.
I world be happy with Moraes, fills 2 needs....runs hard – he finished top-10 in the 2km time trial at the Combine and plays on the wing.

Maybe that's why Sammy traded with the lions to grab another 2nd rounder, but that seems like too many picks to take to this year's draft.

I'm pretty sure that we have 5 open list spots. If we make that trade then after pick 39 our final draft pick would be 76. Now that probably comes in at 60 after teams finish up in the draft but by that point we'd be able to take a state league standout without reaching too far.

Or a project athletic ruck/utility ;)

That's what I expect anyway.

We turned down North's future first.
To be fair taking norths future first would have been great for next year but we essentially would have been out of this draft as they couldn’t give anything for this year as their first pick was 60 after pick 2.

If they have of been able to give their future first and a pick or picks between 28-40 i think we would have jumped at it.

Bulldogs fans, I’m sorry I laughed and celebrated taking Luamon Lual with one pick to go before you could of matched, please please please accept our trade off of 37, 39 and future second round pick so we can get Jobe Shanahan!!!

If Cooper can develop into a Stringer type player

That's a big win for us, feel like we lack that type of forward
I see it differently. For mine, a Stringer type who operates predominantly inside 50 wouldn't be a great fit in our forward line

I'm hoping Cooper has plenty of scope for physical development and can run out games half forward/mid.

I’m not as against Moraes as others he has a lot of the assets we need being an elite runner. I think the main issue raised about him is his decision making with ball. But that can be worked on.
When we picked up Jack MacRae there was question marks on his disposal and decision making as well.
