Pity for them there doesn't seem to be any high end KPPs this year. It's what they need.

So say Richmond take him, North take a non-mid, WC take Jagga and Crows take the SA kid - is there anyone considered top end left for us?
Trainor is the premium key defender and he was good today. Just the lazy 26 touches. Similar to Weitering.

North fan growing up and they love him.

But he doesn’t project to be pick 1. He does round out the top 6 - excluding Lombardi.

Realistically any club would be happy with him. Even us.

Our issue is that we are desperate for mids and it doesn’t make a lot of sense to lose Battle to gain… Trainor

Watters and Neeld both hired the same year, both came from under Malthouse, both made a point of making themselves unpopular by shitting on their respective clubs from the get-go. We actually played ok under Watters but the Pelican was determined to destroy our list, then Richo, Trout and Seaford happened. Amazing stuff.

Has there ever been a professional club that has tried harder to self destruct. Yet we still keep going its a modern miracle...

We have picked apart Jaggas game.

But Smilies kicking is average.

I haven't watched yet. Didn't notice it before, how bad was it? If you want Jagga you might need to hope that Smilie stays favourite for pick 1.

Trainor had a day out with 26 disposals.

Lalor would be the one if Jagga and Sid are both gone

I reckon Smilie will be hard to shift because of his size. 194 CM and can play all 3 areas of the ground.

He also Played well today

Potential No.1 pick Josh Smillie grew into the game as well, collecting 22 disposals, having nine clearances and also kicking a goal having spent some time stationed inside-50.

He has presence too. He looks like he has real BDE. He gives off vibes like he's in control.

I remember he went to SEN to bag the club after they told him to stay out of the media. It was weird stuff.
He also brought in an assistant coach without asking GM of football.

It puts in perspective that it's all a bit of a lottery. Seems like we will have a decent mid around where we are picking unless we go on a big run.

We guarantee ourselves a decent mid by finishing below the crows.

Above them….

Lottery

I am not sure we will finish below the Crows.

Odds wise we are more likely to finish above them, than below them.
Where are all those back to back 5 day breaks and interstate travel games when you need them? 🙄

I think Crows’ home ground advantage tips them above us end of season

There are still games to be played but I have watched all the u18 championship games and my assessment is this years draft crop top end (top 20) are no where near that of last year.

The mids are not the same high quality and there is no where near the same amount of high quality key position players or ruckman. Last years Allies side was something special.

Having said that as has been stated by the experts there is budding talent there, but none will have the immediate impact of last years recruits.

On a more positive note Sam Lalor returned to the Coates League on the weekend and had 34 possessions in a bog performance.

I've not seen much of this year's crop, but based on opinions here Lalor sounds great. Is he in the discussions with those top handful and if not, why not?

It reminds me of 2017. It's got some good players but not jizz yourself good. A few taken between 20 and 30 might end up the pick of the crop out side the first few picks.

Jagga smith is the pick of the bunch. Lalor sounds good but smith will be a game changer. Everything he touches turns to gold

I think his best trait is his ability to go again and again and seems to know where to be to find the ball. His ball use and vision aren't special IMO. That said think he's going to be a very good to excellent player.

So if we get 2 first rounders, we could get this year's version of Clark and Coffield.
Higgins was a first round pick that year.
I laughed at the Hawks trading out all their early picks, but they got Worpel at 45, just before Paton.
Then they got crumber Dylan Moore.

Xerri and Meek went very late in that draft.
Most of us would trade Clark for Meek, let alone Xerri.

Did you watch his game on the weekend?
