Biggest potential in this entire draft pool.

Hope we land him or Langford.

Would need a few years however ala Petracca.
I could see him playing early, but as a half forward with short stints on the ball from time to time.

Full midfield will take some time.

The top 4 seem to be locked.

FOS Lalor Draper Jagga.

It appears to be close to a lock that North take a tall: Armstrong or Tauru.

Melbourne is the uncertain one. They could grab Armstrong. They have been linked to Langford and Reid.

That’s why.

With an expectation Richmond trade for p2 for 6 and something for north.
Bit of a consensus Langford is above smith from what cal has been saying of late. Melbournes interviewed smillie and I could see them taking him. Richmond are also very keen on him and hold pick 6. Can’t be getting attached to him this far out. I can see smith sliding to us tho out of any of the top group. I’d like one of Langford/smillie at our pick as an inside bull paired with reid/smith. That would be ideal. I could see those two really playing well if they had a big on baller to take the brunt.

Are Langford and Smillie the biggest boom/bust pairing we could possibly take?

Tall mids who aren't exactly lightning fast, can imagine guys like Draper and Smith zipping inside and around them turning them into a pretzel.

Hopefully my worries are unfounded and we get both Bont and Cripps mk2 for our midfield.
I don’t get the Smilie isn’t fast. He’s 195 and probably moves as well as any 195 midfielder. Apart from Bont probably kicks it better as well.

Whether he makes it or not, that’s a different question, but it would be more to do with him not becoming “beast enough” rather than movement.

The absolutely LAST thing we need is a tall forward.

1. Mids
2. Mids
3. Key Defender
4. Mids
5. Ruck
6. Mids

11. Mids
12. Key Forward

lads haven’t been keeping much tabs on this thread just with trade period on but seems we are pretty settled. What are our chances of getting one of Draper or tauru? Just from what I’ve seen this year they are my favourites

Low. Draper won't slide past Carlton now. Tauru will be taken by Norf you'd imagine whether it be pick 2 or 6

He isn't lightning quick or known for his speed, 3.088 isn't slow but it's not lightning quick. Remember I'm comparing him to everyone, not just 190cm midfielders. Smillie is the least of my worries though.

Until other pick swaps come in this is how I see the top 10 playing out

Richmond 1 - Sam Lalor
Brisbane 2 - Levi Ashcroft
North Melbourne 3 - Alix Tauru
Carlton 4 - Finn O'Sullivan
Adelaide 5 - Sid Draper
Melbourne 6 - Harvey Langford
Richmond 7 - Jagga Smith
St Kilda 8 - Josh Smillie
St Kilda 9 - Murphy Reid
Melbourne 10 - Harry Armstrong

My hope would be somehow to get our hands on Pick 6 (7 on draft night) using 8 and F1st & F2nd getting back 14 as well.

6 - Jagga Smith
7 - Josh Smillie
14 - Xavier Lindsay / Tobie Travaglia

would be an elite haul

Melbourne at 6 is where it could be shaken up. If they are desperate for Armstrong they may need to go early at that spot. Richmond have always liked Langford, which would leave Smith and Smillie anyway.

It's not happening though, Smith wouldn't be the one to slide if anyone does. I still have a hunch that Langford slides to our pick out of the top mids.

If North take Tauru at 2, Melb will feel pretty safe Armstrong makes it 9.

Best chance for 2 sliding through to us is if North 2 trade with rich for 6, 18

1. Lalor - Rich
2. FOS - Rich
3. Draper - Carl
4. Smith - Adel
5. Armstrong/Tauru - Melb
6. Armstrong/Tauru - North
7. Smilie - Stk
8. Langford - Stk

Just no reason for north to do that trade though unless they get 10 instead of 18 but Rich probably not going to do that. Still wouldn’t be worth it from north’s point of view risking losing their first option. Don’t see us moving the needle for north’s pick for the same reason even if we offered 7,8.

So think you’re right, one slider for us and let’s see how much we can make 8 dance on draft night.

We get an elite mid regardless of who the people ahead of us pick but if one goes a tall we get two. How good. Can’t wait for draft night
