As it stands this morning.

We have 18 listed players born 2000 or earlier.

Our oldest players are Webster Hill Wood - they will be 32 next season.

We are currently at 20 listed players born 2001 or after. With the oldest in this group, Ryan Byrnes and Liam Henry - They will be 24 years old next season.

That's not a great list profile but a lot of the older crew are currently our best players. We probably resemble the 2016 Dogs the most of any recent successful side.

Is the Rookie draft as simple as Peckett or Cole? Or will there be another Riley Bonner type

Well we have to take a Sandy player with our rookie pick now right?

Peckett and Cole both qualify for that luckily so I’d imagine yes, has to be one of them.

Geelong got Mitch Edwards last year as a young project ruckman

And they have Conway.

But the idea that they loved Dodson enough to trade for him just can't be legit.

They could have picked him multiple times last night and declined so I very much doubt they were anywhere near as keen as reported.

It’s a better balance…prior to the delistings we had 18 players 28 & over

Gonna do it before any of you other cucks gets the chance:

Best 22

FB: Webster Wilkie Shoenmaker

HBF: NAS Howard Sinclair

C: Wilson Macrae Hill

HFF: Henry King Owens

FF: Higgins Caminiti Sharman

Foll: Marshall Steele Philipou

Int: Clark Wood Windhager Garcia

Second Best 22

FB: McClennan Cole** Tauru

HBF: Travaglia Barratt Stocker

C: Byrnes Carrol Hastie

HFF: Hall Keeler Said

FF: Collard Cordy Butler

Foll: Heath Jones Dow

Int: O'Connell Dodson Boxhall Peckett**
The last 2 years the boss has had a draftee play every game…wouldn’t surprise if Travaglia is the one for next season

To be honest. Based on average list ages.
Our list resembles that of the rebuilding sides. GWS the outlier as they are still carried by their inception draft talents.

And me too....in reference to a top line mid coming next year.

I just can't help but feel it's part of the strategy over the next 2 years......to many on here it seems that our list management guys have lost the plot.........they have gone "defender stir crazy"

Our 2 "blonde bombshells" selected last night were IMHO....an excellent pick up.....one a possible future foward and another a mid(I'm very confident with Tobie achieving that)

The plan and still is I believe was to hit the draft this year.....and next and go "
full throttle " on free agency at the end of 2025.

I'm guessing that a very very good mid....or two....is in there sights for the end of 2025.

For me....IMHO.....it makes more sense with what we're doing right now......filling KP holes....real or perceived......with the list.

If you are right the draft selections would make more sense.

If I were Saints, and assume we have plenty to spend, I'd be out there targeting a package of 2 A grade mids because I think that is how you have to sell the vision. I don't see the attraction to an LDU for example coming into that midfield but a package of say LDU and Brayshaw coming in might be a different conversation - that would open the window and be a pretty attractive proposition supported by all the around the ground talent we are building.

At the moment we are looking at the midfield top talent at end of 2025 being Steele one year closer to the end, Macrae (same boat) and fingers crossed Pou has come on.

Good that we are being ruthless .... even with our NGA players

I thought Hoffman was a shoe-in for a list spot

Not sure we need to cut as many next year .... minimum will do
Not taking Hoffman May have been a list balance decision, now have plenty of defensive options & perhaps he’s too similar to Hastie

I reckon what would have been interesting is if Smillie had gotten through and whether we'd have taken him. Seems we were absolutely desperate for Travaglia.

Didn't get to watch last night but it's way more interesting, so.many players rated differently. It's really where the recruiters earn their money. Hopefully Rymp unearthed some gold last night.

So it seems we have 2 x list spots remaining, so hopefully we just add Adrian Cole & Elwood Peckett when we can.

I must admit there was a tinge of disappointment missing out of the midfielders on the first night, but after last night I am absolutely wrapt with our draft results. Finally the club have their recruitment and more importantly player development right. Not all these kids will be stars but at least we identifying the right kids and giving them the very best chance to get there!

Well done - SOS, Gubby & Simon an excellent and well considered result!

We still need a year or two and we need most of these kids to come on. Obviously we want to bring in some established talent and that’s easier said than done.

I think we’ll take the mature ruck today, we can’t go backwards, you can’t sell hope to an LDU or we’re singing from the same hym sheet as North. If we can make finals and sell the youth potential then we might have some takers.

Need to take a Sandy player though.

Speaking with a Sandy player before last nights draft and he said the believe is that ST Kilda have reneged on the selecting of a Sandy player for this year.

His believe was that one potentially one of the NGA or Peckett would be selected and claimed as a Sandy player but said no Sandy listed player was getting a position.
