Did today’s win just paper over the cracks and just stop us from having a full review and making the changes we need.

With today’s results we could have had pick 5 at the upcoming draft if we lost.
Nope. This ain’t it. You try and win every game. Been through trying to lose games. It sucks. You think players are disgruntled now. Wait until the club deliberately tries losing games. Look at the reaction of the group yesterday. It doesn’t mean everything is ok of course.

Trac can't make any comments.

Deny it - club sweeps it under the rug with everything else (must be one hell of a rug by now)

Confirms it - media blows it up even more. Any chance to attract a Cummings, Peatling or dig out a Finn Callaghan just goes out the window.

At some point it doesn't help change, just makes it harder for everyone and more likely for even bigger mistakes to be made under the media pressure.
Nah thats not true, If a media member made up rumours about a player 99% of players would come out and deny it even if its true. Wouldnt hard for Trac to deny it

Plus he's contracted for like another 5 or 6 years. Whatever issues there are now I'm sure were around last year when he signed. So yeah, unless he sooks it up majorly which I can't see, then silence is the best approach. Club will never entertain the idea of him leaving anyway. I mean, is he quoted at at all during the last week or so? We're just all believing Tom Morris and thinking he wants out?

Agreed. Review is still gonna happen. Dropping 1 or 2 draft spots don't mean s* unless Harley Reid is up for grabs lol Norf). By all reports this draft is really even and pick 5 compared to pick 7 isn't going to be a massive L. JT has a great track record, so have confidence that we'll still get a great young kid. The club needed the win. Lots of positives to walk away with. Maybe the club realises we can't move forward with Clarry and Vines in the middle? McVee looked OK in there. Disco took steps. Petty had a good game. Melk as the sub moving forward could be a good move? I don't know. There seemed to be plenty of positives hopefully. Main thing is kicking a big score and the players looked to enjoy it. Hopefully more of that moving forward with still a club review and some changes

What I'm saying is that the media report about him being unhappy with direction is true. He can't deny it. Coming out and confirming it doesn't help either, it's doing what he wants it to do. It's a balance.

All for show, lets get everyone in the circle after beating a fellow non finalist and show the world what a happy cult we are. Predictable cringe.
Beating bottom dwellers and middle table muck has been our one wood since the flag. Found wanting against the top teams unless we catch them on an off week or with a few injuries.

This.

I’m surprised there is still any doubts that he said something along the lines of what was reported. He hasn’t denied it, or downplayed it. And tellingly the club hasn’t attempted to pretend it didn’t happen or try to downplay it. Even that dickhead Pert just mumbled around the topic.

The only thing now is to try to get him re-engaged as his body recovers. A good way to go about it is to make some inroads in changing our game plan to be a bit bolder and more daring. He would be a perfect centrepiece for that, and would be very dangerous forward too if we could get the ball forward better. I just don’t think Goodwin can do that.

I think the only thing you can read into is its been a week or whatever now and Tracs been dead quiet and hasnt refuted a single thing said about him. Thats telling, not even a bullshit PR to save face.
The silence from Trac is deafening. He doesn't have to come out and say anything publically of course, but every day he doesn't deny the reports confirms them in a way.

Maybe there are major issues. It doesn't seem to be around the coach unfortunately. But who knows. I don't blame Trac or players saying they are a little disgruntled. Not a problem at all. And it probably depends on the extent of the issues. But I'd be fn pi$$Ed at Trac if he signs a massive contract and then demands a trade the second a tumble down the ladder happens.

Personally, I'm a bit torn with ANB as well. Is the family thing an excuse to get out? Probably. Hard to be mad at him. But 2 years contracted and walks out? As soon as I see him in a Crows or Port jumper I'll happily see him get smashed by Viney. I thought ANB was more loyal than that tbh.
ANB leaving sucks but I think it should be taken on face value. Being a parent to young kids is a challenge if you don't have support, and possibly there might be more stuff going on there that hasn't been made public.

Wonder if Bailey Humphries is gettable? We were red hot on him in his draft year. Was exciting in his debut season but seems to have plateaued.

He might look at the suns' midfield and wonder if he'll ever get a lookin?

Bad example cause the blokes tough as nails but how the media hasnt picked up on Viney being made to carry through with a completely ****ed shoulder all season is a time bomb waiting to go off. Watching him clutch it in agony in the middle of the ground in a nothing game seems so strange to me
Hasn’t Viney had consistent problems with that shoulder, the “stinger” where it hurts for a bit and then it’s OK again?

Viney is a guy who deliberately snapped his plantar fascia so he could play instead of getting a surgical repair and missing months of footy.

I’d be pretty confident if given the choice between playing and managing an unstable shoulder, or having surgery and missing a big chunk of the year, Viney would elect to play through it.

Wasn't the Planta fascia thing Robert Harvey?

Yes.

Viney had the surgery.

I have that problem too, it’s quite common, and I don’t envy either. Some days it’s too painful to walk just after you wake up, and I have to crawl towards the coffee machine. Comes and goes for me, and I’m not trying to be selected for anything so I just manage with physio or whatever.

Yeah thought so, Harvey had a partial tear or something and apparently the full tear was better or some shit? Jumped off his kitchen table if I remember rightly

The full tear apparently fixes the pain completely (other than the tearing moment which must be horrible) but it’s a bit of a risk that you might lose some stability in your foot. But Harvey and Jack couldn’t play or train half the time so it’s worth the risk for professional athletes.

Lampers will be telling us Oliver played thru broken ribs in the grand final when Mark Yeates ran through him at the opening bounce next

ANB is definitely a family thing.

Being young first time parents they have zero family support down here. There little one has had some health issues from the start which they are still managing from time to time. The other aspect is whether his wife has had her own post natal issues as well on top of this.

ANB I can handle. The guy has given blood sweat and tears for this footy club and can understand the need to head home for further family support.

I'm still playing local footy and I have had it on and off for new nearly 2 years.

The worse part is the getting out of bed part. It takes a good few hours to get it to some sort of normal capacity. The tennis or spike ball has been flogged to death.

It sucks. The ligament tightens overnight and doesn’t release until your foot and calf muscle warm up. And even then it still hurts.

My doctor got me to stretch the calf muscle before going to bed which seems to help a very little bit. And apparently you can get a weird moon boot type of job to wear overnight that keeps your foot in a shape that reduces the tightening but lord only knows how you sleep in something like that.

Did his PCL in the 2012 Grand final and still had an enormous game.

How good did we look yesterday with Sparrow, Oliver and Trac out.

Take note club, imagine yesterdays team with 3-4 young gun first rounders on top of it.

Absolutely amazing opportunity we have to reboot on the run right now before Tassie comes in.

Now now. Lampers was making the general point that Viney is tough enough to play through pain. I think we can all agree on that point.

Once he chewed his own leg off so his ingrown toenail wouldn’t stop him running out there.
