Nope. Forward rookies are typically the worst scoring. If you have 3 cheapies on field, most playing as small forwards/half forwards, they could pump out 20s and 30s on the regular, then get dropped.

From the premos I'm seeing you're likely to see 70-80's from those as well. So you're going from 95 avg to 45 avg (rook) which is probably comparable to other lines, and leaves you room for DPP stuff

Maybe as PS goes on we'll have more 100+ types become apparent, and going in with more becomes more reasonable, we're all just shooting the shit at this stage

At least two mid pricers will be the way to go in the FWDs IMO.

Too risky fielding 3+ rookies, and not much clarity on who will be Premos.

Bide time with MPs for a couple of weeks and make changes based on first two rounds.

I’m wondering if Dylan Moore could see a tick improvement. They’ve recruited Gini and Watson as small forwards. Surely it means he roams up the ground a little more. We saw some good scoring from him the back end of 2022 when he was pinch hitting in the middle and playing slightly higher up

Gun player, but Hawks have so many young mids, I can see him getting even less time near the ball. I might be wrong though, we'll know more in the new year as preseason ramps up.

As a hawks supporter I think this is a watch for now. Ginni and Watson will play however without seeing a R1 team you would assume his going back to the late 2022 role because we have no one else to play that role especially with Wingard out for the majority of the year

However Weddle looks likely to move to wing, CJ will be back (not sure where he plays atm) and Amon is training with the backs. This is not even mentioning Ward who has had no preseason since his been recruited and is finally fit and started preseason

So alot up in the air for the hawks SC relevant players next year

Amon as a potential defender becomes relevant in draft so thanks for that tidbit

Here’s the definition of speculative - Alwyn Davey Jnr has been training at half back the last few sessions…

Actually just realised he’s still basically rookie priced, if he starts he might be a lock.

Caleb Daniel is just a lock now, isn't he? They'll use his run and carry through the middle with no Baz

This line sucks this year!

My first thought is:

Macrae
Jackson
Flanders
Owens
Fisher (new role as back flank seagull)
Reid

F7: Comben (new role as intercepting KPD is a lock until Logie returns from ACL, and he is certain to become def-fwd dpp on the off chance he isn’t upgraded at the first opportunity)
F8: Mannagh

Wilson from St Kilda looking promising, might be a better option than Comben. Cadman good JS too, albeit a crap role.

Is Fisher actually going to play? Sounds like McKercher is playing hb, and Sheezel too? How many seagull's is too many?

Suspect going lite in the forwards and waiting for DPP changes will be the popular play.

Fisher will definitely play and Mckercher too. Three rebounders in a zone defence.

Worth remembering that Fisher produced very good SC scores during his stint at half back for the blues last year.

I wanna believe that Sheezel can do a Daicos in his second year - obviously as a Roos supporter I have high hopes in him as a player- but from a SC perspective I suspect he’ll be sharing the chips with those two.

I’ll keep my eye on Wilson over the PS games.

I guess the counterpoint to consider re Sheezel is that with Ziebs gone, he might be taking more kick-ins.
Yeah no Ziebell, no Hall, maybe no Corr to start the year.

Problem is he needs to be a keeper this year. Have to be confident he'll score well/keep a good role all year.

Kid's a gun, I reckon he probably will, but there might be better options for the price.

His price won't go up much unless he is killing it, I wouldn't be starting him and we only get 1 look before the real stuff starts.

Yeah, he's priced at 100, and you'd like 105-110 really.

HH better value at 80 with 90+ likely, and saves $100k to start somewhere else.

Still hasn’t started full training, which is kinda bizarre.

Expected to enter full training for the first time post Christmas.
