Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
No, I'm not saying we'd never want to lose Nash. I mean it's insane that Footscab would try to trade us for:Yeah I know he is but what I’m saying if we want a player then sometimes we do what we have to get a players like we did Wingard and JOM.
The Dee’s starting picking up guns once there was some A Grade youngsters to work with.
May, Lever etc etc turned up to Melbourne when they were battling.
If the pieces are in place you can sell the dream, and of course if the cash is available you should be able to attract A Grade talent.
Geelong won’t be swapping Holmes for WorpelThat is why we are keen on trading a first in. I hear Geelong already interested in Worpel. Hawks would drive a hard bargain, if at all, but a Geelong first and second might be on the table. Or swap him for Holmes and forget about Smith?
Rather keep worpel than swap for Holmes.Geelong won’t be swapping Holmes for Worpel

Cue the little Mexican girlRather keep worpel than swap for Holmes.
Holmes is a priority for the Cats. Will move and retire others to keep himRather keep worpel than swap for Holmes.
I think the point is valid though, we aren’t seeing large qty of “elite” glimpses in this group. Our 97-98 rebuild happened fairly quickly, had good players but did lead to total dis function in 02/03/04. Not many rising star noms either at the moment which isn’t the be all and end all but another indication. The rebuild is moving along quickly. Just waiting for players to have game experience.
Mackenzie game last week against the cat was his best so far.
Agreed, we need to hit the draft hard one more time and get a top 3 pick this year. Our highest pick so far has been 5 and the top 3 are where you find your jamarras, JHFs, Walshes, Daicoses who are elite players.I think the point is valid though, we aren’t seeing large qty of “elite” glimpses in this group. You could even say we are behind versus the 97/98 rebuild as we don’t have the famous “spine” coming through that group had.
This is going to take a lot longer than most people think. We need more elite talent coming in the draft which helps attract all those elite free agents we think we are in the market for. Why would Sam Taylor leave a club vying for premierships to finish bottom 5 repeatedly?
I mean he would be the highest paid player in the competition, playing for the club he supported as a kid, for a big Victorian team that plays at the MCG. Not saying it’ll happen but there are some factors you’re overlooking.I think the point is valid though, we aren’t seeing large qty of “elite” glimpses in this group. It’s a bit early in some of the lads careers to know if they’re going to be elite or not!I think the point is valid though, we aren’t seeing large qty of “elite” glimpses in this group. Seeing Serong at training yesterday he was looking strong. I reckon he could really come on as a 2nd tall in a few years if we don’t get Battle/Melican.As mentioned above, our spine is a problem. Other than Mitchell Lewis, we have seriously lacked quality key position players for far too long. We will struggle to show significant improve until we improve this area of our list.
If you looked at the majority of FA movement it’s to play in finals and premierships not fairytale kid dreams. Such cases are normally after success has been achieved ie ginnivan. Why did buddy choose Swans over giants? lure of premierships, daniher left bombers when Brisbane on cusp etc. very rarely players leave just for big money to play in shit teams.I mean he would be the highest paid player in the competition, playing for the club he supported as a kid, for a big Victorian team that plays at the MCG. What are you saying here? Hawks are in with a good chance? If you looked at the majority of FA movement it’s to play in finals and premierships not fairytale kid dreams. I agree will be a tough sell unless we are showing an upward trajectory. If you looked at the majority of FA movement it’s to play in finals and premierships not fairytale kid dreams. I’d like us to hit the draft again, but it is not all doom and gloom.
Hopefully we can collect a couple of decent F/A along the way.
This scenario becomes far more realistic if the giants win the flag - so lets hope for a big big sound come septemberYes and no.
McKay was a bombers fan as a kid, who lives on that side of town. Was he ever really interested in moving to Hawthorn? Not sure we’d ever really know, but it’s likely he was always set on Essendon.
Taylor grew up a big time Hawk fan, who is now playing in front of no one most weeks.
Would he like to play at the MCG for the club he followed as a kid? Maybe.
Offer him 6-8 years on 1m+ and he might very well be interested to play for his boy hood club under a player he loved, regardless of our wins column.
Worth a shot, and not outside the realms of belief that he might be interested in a move.
Thats the idea of FA . You have cap space a top side doesnt have , you pay the premium to get the player you want.We can get a lot free agents to fill the gaps but they come on an increased contract price.
Then you have a salary cap busting at the seams like Carlton/Saints etc was by getting so many free agents.
Dont underestimate where AFL is going in relation to other pro sports .This scenario becomes far more realistic if the giants win the flag - so lets hope for a big big sound come september

Is he OOC?Mac Andrew had a career best game today. Surely he’s one we’d be looking at. I did notice he follows a heap of hawks players on instagram![]()
The solution is simple in that we need to give Sam the vision by starting to win some games and show him that we're gonna be successfulIf you looked at the majority of FA movement it’s to play in finals and premierships not fairytale kid dreams. Sold false hope! What are you saying here? Hawks are in with a good chance?
Oh, and Ben McKay says Hi!
