It made a huge difference...you had the opportunity to rest players in your double up matches against North / West Coast. Whilst the rest of the Top 4 played and split wins with each other. The point that was made was Geelong would get an easier draw in 2024 than any time last 5 years. The fact is it can not get much easier than they got in 2022. Played bottom 2 twice and only return game against a team in the 8 ways the team that came 8th. Surely it can not get any easier than this ?
You're right, it was a fairly easy season and only one side came close over the last few months. It would've been nice to not have those dead rubbers and dish out a few more thrashings to top 8 sides.

Anything else to discuss?

Hawks are my smokie for the 8 beat both Collingwood and the Lions and weren't far off beating Melbourne Port Adelaide and GWS and have improved their forward line
Hawthorn looks like it can beat any team easily when everything goes their way (like many teams in the league), but...

they are 1 or 2 injuries away from being pretty darn awful (Sicily and Lewis carry our defence and offence).

Big hopes and big fears all tied together. I feel good that we didn't trade away our F1 and F2.

If Lynch gets on the park, Richmond will be a better side this year than last. Martin finished the year like the Martin of old and we have lost nobody significant. Cotchin and Riewoldt were not much chop last year. Nor was Grimes who will either rebound or lose his spot. Nobody else is in the downward due to age in particularly. Kosi will fill a big hole up forward even if he is average, as our other makeshift forwards last year were worse than average. If Gibcus returns from his hammy injury that's a big bonus because he is class.

New coach, fresh air in the club which was looking pretty stale.

How can you get an easier draw than in 2022, you played 1 team in the Top 8 twice and that was the team that came 8th(bulldogs). With 2 minutes to go in the season Geelong had not played a team in the 8 twice in 2022.
What a stupid comment. Who knows who’s going to be good.
You can’t predict it.
Just a brain dead line of thinking.
Teams win 16 in a row on the way to a flag all the time 😂

My question is why do you think Geelong will be a better team in 2024 compared to 2023?
We will be better but probably not a threat.
Can’t possibly be that unlucky with injuries again, and won’t be hungover.

At the end of the day I don’t really care too much. I saw a flag a year ago and 4 in my life so it doesn’t bother me.

I personally have Geelong out of the 8 because you have a lot of important players who are over 30, and those players are even older than last year when you guys struggled a bit.

Not saying Geelong will be a bad team, but I think age has caught up with you guys a bit.

Yeah possibly. It’s hard to say. We definitely have a lot of older players but I’d expect them to be managed throughout the year.

4 in your life is pretty good. 9 in your life when you are 40 is also pretty good :)

If you didn’t care you wouldn’t be posting so vigorously…..we had an ‘out’ year in 2023 and it was accepted by many cat supporters …. Not again in 2024 please…

Notes:

Sydney get a blessed run in all facets of the game once again but Carlton, shocking backing up their 2023 efforts, knock them off for the flag.

Adelaide are primed to break into the 8 - but lose in the first week of the finals to Essendon, who get way ahead of themselves again and start talking flags - but finally break the finals win drought.

Gold Coast will finally make it too on the back of some Hardwick inspiration but go out to Freo in Perth.

Freo are coming into the season with low expectations and a lack of incoming major recruits - these are exactly the kind of years where Freo actually perform, so pencil them in for finals in 2024.

Port Adelaide back down after a bad start to 2024, Ken finally goes - they have a late surge under Josh Carr after trading Ollie Wines in the mid season period for Jesse Hogan but it’s not enough to make finals.

Melbourne and St Kilda crash and burn in 2024. Lots of injuries and off field dramas.

North Melbourne finally win a few close ones and start to look good. Lots of hype around their midfield of Reid, Wardlaw and Sheezel with a resurgent Thomas and Simpkin.

Hawthorn take a step back and cop a bit of criticism for picking up 4 spare parts in trades.

West Coast win more games but are still a mile off the pack.

Geez a lot of posters putting tigers bottom 4. I’m not all as doom and gloom as that.
Think a fresh coaching team with still a good nucleus of experienced players and some youth will have us thereabouts. If lynch returns to full fitness and we get gibcus back on the park we will be better than this year and we only missed the 8 by a couple of games.
Will be interesting to see how we go.

Lol What? How was my post to the Swans supporter “vigorous”?
And I would obviously love us to be there abouts next year but if we aren’t, who cares?
Surely you don’t expect us to win the flag next year?
