Who was it? It looks a good guess.

To be fair, if you check the thread a lot of people had gws last
I had a quick look & couldn’t see anyone else tip gws last
What I did note was the no one was even close
Most people tipped 4 of the top 8 at best
98% of people tipped port to finish 9-12

The most accurate post was from Tas, a north Melbourne supporter who said

“I don't have a lot of confidence in anyone who didn't make the 8 last year, of those that didn't. Blues, Port and Suns are a chance to displace a team but consistency not a strong suit for these clubs.”

Last was hyperbole …. But we wee expected to be bottom 4

Yep a lot of people had gws bottom 4
Goes to show you how pointless these predictions threads are
I noticed some posters were pretty realistic and accurate about their own teams chances but no one even got close to predicting the top 8, let alone the right order

Not sure why Port dropping would be so crazy - we always drop off in a non-contract year. If its true that our coach got signed after the Suns game our form after that point is 3 wins, 6 losses; not exactly the win rate of a top 8 side.

Mine:
Collingwood
GWS
Sainters
Brisbane
Sydney
Carlton
Gold Coast

Adelaide
Bulldogs
Hawthorn
Ports
Geelong
Essendon

in 2018 Melbourne made a prelim after missing finals for a decade.
In 2019 Brisbane finished 2nd after year of being bottom 5.
in 2023 carlton made a prelim after a decade of not making finals.

It's really not uncommon
brisbane is not really a good example

we were essentially a completely different team from 2018 after trading in neale + lyons for our midfield

that fast tracked us to top 4 whereas if we were to improve solely off the development of the young core we might have battled and finished around 6-8 on the ladder in 2019 if we were lucky

adelaide has not significantly improved the team in trade period to the point of having ready made contributors enter the best 22 relative to last season, although i am bullish on their final prospects

giants 2016 the other recent one
We finished 10th in 2015 (the last time we missed Finals) and finished 2nd the next year.

Surprised to see soo many have written us off especially in the media after a year of horrific injury circumstances (lots of collision injuries and broken bones which you can't really control) and the hardest draw in 2023..

Didn't they learn from 2021 when they said we were cooked that it was dumb? We only went on to win 16 in a row and a Premiership by 81 points a year later...LOL
You'd think the last 20 years would be proof to not underestimate the Cats...

But here we are again. Too Old Too Slow? Am i right :)

You're finals don't make any sense you have the Lions beating Collingwood but not getting the home final against GWS who they have never lost to at the Gabba

Yeah honestly I think that trying to pick finals wins based off a top 8 that will never happen is all just a bit of fun anyway so don't take it seriously. I wasn't really trying to put home first and away second either for this though it does look like that's usually happened.
