Be interested to see how Cooper Lord goes, as now he's gone. I'll say some internally rated him higher than a couple that have played this year. Won't name them cause your heads will fall off.

I get it that his type isn't a priority, but still.
Having watched him in every game so far, he does stick out as one of the better players at the level, but didn't think he has any outstanding afl-level attributes besides good endurance. Not particularly quick, uses it ok without being brilliant and he does not get a stack of it (also lacks consistency in this area). TBH, I was very surprised he was picked up.

Apparently pies were keen on teakle reckon they probably were wanting him with their second pick

Both boys are 18 month contracts

Teakle is ready to make immediate impact

Puts more pressure on the out of contract guys with less list spots
Well the pies, who good on them now openly admit, along with swans, who don't, have every advantage you can possibly get in the afl. The only advantage we have is being at the top of the draft picks. So you take it and continue the stock pile of gun kids. And my goodness are we building a stockpile. This is long term strategic building at it's best. Old AFL heads want us to trade in 33 year players for the pure reason that the don't want north to be star studded in a few years and just be mid table plodders. Wines, parker et al,,, no thanks.

Pick Saad El-Hawli if he's there at our 2nd selection and we've got another dynamic small forward with an intriguing ceiling.
Who's the other one(s) we have? Are you referring to Payne? Thursfield seems to suggest settles as a pressure fwd.

Got to be honest I’m not thrilled about the Teakle pick. I know we need ruck depth, but he just doesn’t do it for me. More of an athlete than an AFL footballer.

I don’t see what’s changed in the last 6 months for him to go from delisted to re-rookied again.
A free upgrade on Free? Buys time for Goad to develop. IIRC next year CCJ's last contracted year too.....hell we need more depth there and Teakle seems ready to go......I don't want to see Larkey rucking again. Not thrilled either, but we've got enough kids to develop.

Happy with both selections. Payne just wants to hurt the opposition with his ferocity and we are crying out for forward half pressure.
Teakle will play forward to support Souva. From the short highlights, Teakle is more than handy up forward.
He is a good kick and will demand a good defender which will free up Larkey. He will also give Xerri a chop out in the ruck.

Hot tip for aspiring MSD players next year: have your own website.

Also going by Brady we only had 4 on our draft board otherwise would have passed

So we rate him highly

can’t complain tonight both could feature heavily rest of year particularly teakle
Yes and Brady was apparently teakled pink that all four were still available with the first pick in the draft.

could you imagine the melts if we ever saw their draft board

I find it laughable that with the state of our list we could only find 4 players that list management team believes would improve our list.

Gives me the sense that the list management team are very delusional with where we are at.

Our recruiters seem happy they picked up a "pressure" forward. News flash - "pressure" shouldn't be a skill set, it should be an attitude. The whole team needs to bring pressure.

One forward applying pressure is going to do what exactly?
I disagree that it shouldn’t be a skill set. Yes it should be an attitude for all players and it’s certainly an attitude that needs to be improved across all lines in our side currently.

But there is certainly a big difference in the level of impact from pressure players. Like for Collingwood I would say the impact of guys like McCreery & Hill are significantly different to the likes of Elliot & Schulz who are good defensive players in their own right.

I really couldn't agree more. That, or they don't do the work.

Essendon, Carlton and North are bottom 6 in the VFL. Who is beating these sides? Ghosts?

****en joke.

You make a fair point but I doubt yesterday's draft produces 4 successful picks.
Time will tell I suppose

It's all about shots at the dart board for us at this stage mate. If we pick 1 or 2 role players at the MSD or SPP, it gives us more flexibility moving forward with how we build our list through Free Agency and the National Draft.

Last years was pretty bad, the only one looking like they could be a best 22 player is Maric

This draft now gets blown up to be something it's not. 9 out of 10 of these blokes get overlooked in multiple because they're no good. Hopefully Payne is the 1/10 exception.

There was a bit being made of Howes. In the footage he looks like the bastard child of Chris Groom.
